We had a tradition of bringing some object on group trips to serve as a photo prop. One year that object was a can of Budweiser, which DougD had previously hidden in my boot. That Bud can was subjected to a year of serial abuse, including resting next to a dead pony’s arse in the Assateague marsh, captioned “Birth of a Clydesdale”, accurately reflecting my thoughts on beer brewed with rice.
We had another objet d’can one year, treated with more respect. Simply having something with which to pose made everyone ready for their close up Mr. DeMille.
