My roof rack system needs to be replaced. It’s a 79” round bar Yakima system. Very noisy and there is corrosion and a couple minor cracks in some of the towers.

I’m considering a Thule system with a wedge (more squarish) aluminum bar. Anyone used this system and know its durability, quietness, utility? It’s a pretty big investment. About 50% more than its predecessor.

Anyone want 20years worth of load bars, attachments and towers? I still have the gutter mounts and goal post from my truck 25 years ago. Free to good home. You pickup.

Too bad you are not closer I would take the load bars off your hands. Foolishly sold all my load bars and gutter mounts 5 years ago when I thought I was getting out of canoeing. I have spent a little over $400 (ebay, FB) piecing a rack together for the prius saving about $200.

I'm also considering replacing my very aged Thule rack. I've been looking at Malone racks, which seem to be way cheaper than Thule or Yakima. I see them around here a fair bit but don't know anyone personally who has one. Anyone here willing to recommend Malone over the big two?

I'm also due for an upgrade and my next system will be a Thule with aero bars. The aero bars have a profile similar to factory crossbar and should be quieter than round bars or my rectangular Thules. The airflow over the bars (especially front) affects the noise so it can vary among different vehicles.
