Could some one give me the measurement from tip top of bow to the FRONT center of seat. I am changing mine over from base model and the instructions are not clear. This will give me a point in which I can determine everything.

Hey Tim, my pack is 6 hours away at my father's place. But, don't worry about the factory placement anyway. It's likely in the wrong place for you and the dog. I moved my seat back about 5". Put it in the water and sit on a box or something checking for trim, then mark where you want your seat.

Dude I think your right. I just went up to the creek with Canon Dog, who will be with me 90% of the time (45lbs). With her up front I definitely needed the seat farther back than where I thought, very sound advice. I would like to maybe move my stern thwart back instead of forward to give her a little more room. I am not really knowledged on this , what are your thoughts

I would say go for it. But I bought my pack used and abused so the extra holes in the gunnels didn't bother me any. I would try out different positions, just keep your old thwart and cut new ones just in case moving it changes the 'stiffness' too much. If you don't like the new configuration, put the original thwart back in place.

How is your hull in regards to "oil canning" my pack was horrible! About 6+ inches. I ended up steaming in white oak ribs.

Im a newbie to this stuff. Not sure what Oil canning is. I know when I put a 4ft level across center, there is about 1/4 inch gap from where it rest on the edgegon the outside edge of the gunwale to the inside. Is that oil canning? I can take a pic if needed.

TimmyP - oil canning is just when the middle of the canoe bulges up on the inside of the canoe. Poly canoes are notorious for this and apart from looking nasty will slow you down. Latremorej's ribs help keep the structure intact so it doesn't bubble up. That is one sweet set-up by the way!

Gotcha, Ill go look at my Canoe. But I do know for sure my Kayak has that. Thanks for the Lesson Mrindy.

Yes, the middle 'pop's in like an old metal oil can. Mine was really bad, I couldn't even put a small dry box under the seat when i was in it.

Thanks Mrindy. It's great for small waters!
