The Great Council State Park is located on the site of the old Chillicothe village, a main village of the Shawnee people before removal of tribes to places west of the Mississippi. Daniel Boone, George Rogers Clark, Simone Kenton, William Henry Harrison, Tecumseh, Cornstalk all figure prominently in the rich history that is not flattering to pioneers and the early US government. This is the cleanest navigable section of the river. My only complaint is they need a canoe landing.
