Just back from my first solo trip the the lovely Massapepie ares of the ADKs. Tried out some new Christmas and birthday presents.
1. Solo Sove twig stove. Heavier than my old modifies swiss volcano stove, but burns bigged sticks with less attention and boils water noticabley faster-a keeper.
2.Titanium small teapot. a ridicules extravagance, but bought with a gift certificate. featherweight, boils and pours good, works good on solo stove. A keeper.
3.liquid coffee concentrate. Easy to measure,a little heavier, but no garbage to pack out, less bitter. Also a keeper.
4. First trip with longer carrys for my Swift Kewayden 14(Granny Smith). Lovely to paddle, low effort, easy turning, relatively wind resistant, and carried my heavier than usuall cold weather load OK but sluggish, bow heavy on carrys. Also a keeper, plut I love the color.
5. my new ultralite camp slippers seemed a good addition intil s short walk on a dewey morning proovet them to be awful sponges-instant wet feet. Waterproof and give another chance.
Keep your paddle wet,Turtle

What brand is the coffee concentrate? Did you buy it at the grocery store? Outfitter?

I've bee looking at a new teapot, what brand dod you get? Size? Do you just use it on the stove or over the fire?

What are ultralight slippers? I started bring moccasins with me and wile they are not ultra light, do pack down considerably smaller than anything else. The only good thing in the wet condition are rubber boots.

Christopher Bean concentrate. Got it from Amizon.
Halulite tea Kettle 1qt.. use it on my Solo stove. Real quick boil and lite, but it does get sooty.
I got the slippers from Sportsmens guide. Patagonia brand. feather lite. I plan some waterproofing on the lower sides. I really love dry socks and slippers in camp.

I've been using a pair of old Merrell barefoot runners lately. Regular looking, not the kind with the toes. Comfy, super light, can cram them in small places. Not waterproof though.

I spent a weekend at Massawepie years ago, lots of ponds to explore, some trout fishing and a trip down the Grass River to the Grass River Flow starting from Massawepie was the highlite.
A shuttle or a bike is needed, otherwise it makes for a great little river to explore very wild and remote feeling. Worth the effort imo

Christmas presents? Bah, humbug!! Just kidding.
The new kit sounds interesting Turtle. I'd never thought of slippers before. Comfy footwear around camp is a good thing. I'm on the hunt for a new pair of rubber duck boot type shoes; water proof and easy to slip on and off around the tent. Kinda like waterproof slippers?!
I like the sound of the twig stove. And the tea pot. Your destination there, the Massapepie sure looks beautiful.

Turtle, I'm looking to buy a twig stove. I've been looking at Firebox. How did you decide on yours (is it solo sove or solo stove??) and what did you like about it?

darn cat on my lap made me misspell again, yes solo stove. I used my teakettle on it and it boiled water real fast. boiling water is my "cooking". It worked good, able to burn bigger stuff than my smaller one,a little heave and does soot up the pot badly.
