Not many outfitters around me are well stocked on canoe parts, but Kenco Outfitters in Kingston NY routinely comes through for thwarts, yokes, seats, and seat bolts. I just got a replacement thwart from them the other day.

They currently stock Nova Craft, Slipstream, and Adirondack Canoe Co boats. Conveniently located just off the NYS Thruway, on the way to the Adirondacks from southern locations. I have no stake in the place other than my appreciation of a well-stocked, locally owned outfitter not far from me, but they're great for camping, fishing and other outdoors gear.

I should add they don't always have all the canoe parts on display. The other day they only had the yokes and seats out, but when I asked, they had a slew of thwarts of different sizes/thicknesses in the stockroom.

I've been there many times. I worked in Kingston and lived in Woodstock for many years and passed by the location, even before Kenco occupied it, on my daily commute. In fact, Kenco was located in Woodstock before they expanded into the current location—I forget when.

The folks at Kenco helped me get a set of gunwales for an old Mad River "Explorer" I was given by a friend who had never taken care of it. The gunwales were shot and they said they'd have them delivered to the store so I wouldn't have to pay the exorbitant shipping costs. A friend of mine was heading to Kingston the same week they arrived so he picked them up for me. I saved a lot of money and never even left home. Nothing to complain about there...

That's all for now. Take care and until next time...be well.

Good stores deserve patronage. Nothing like talking with Island Falls Canoe.

I was in Chicago some years ago and stopped in to meet Ralph Friese designer of the Canadienne and builder of historic canoes for re-enactments. One of the best days of my canoeing life. Recently I found a kevlar Canadienne that needed some repairs. I fixed it and made $500 when I sold it. I thought of Ralph the whole time.

Another shout-out to Kenco Outfitters. I recently ordered a yoke from them online (early morning) and received it the next afternoon via UPS. There was no shipping charge, either. It's hard to beat that for fast service.
