DIY no sew kneeling pad/ paddle blade protector.

This is a very easy, cheap and useful item to make. Materials needed are the legs from some worn out pants and a 5 dollar blue camping pad from Walmart. (I think they’re 11 bucks now.) I have only made a prototype using a worn pair of jeans and some packing material, but will make another out of a more quick drying pant when I ware a pair out.

Me too Alasgun, I thought it was a great idea and still do. Since I posted this I have been using it more for keeping my paddles together and safe in transit and don’t leave home without it. I also use it as padding on my canoe seat to raise it for comfort.

Years ago i used a padded cordura rifle scabbard to carry a compact lever gun on the front of a wheeler. It sure didnt look like much but it was absolutely perfect for securing and protecting that carbine as it rode along thru mile after mile of Alaska. Never thought of doubling it for a seat but it would have been perfect for that too.
This paddle “scabbard” makes me think of that.

So this is what happens when i don’t have anything productive going on!
I first started thinking about this as a spoof then it started making sense to me. The minimalist might cut those foam pads to the basic shape of the biggest paddle and stuff them all inside the leg of some panty hose! The net says panty hose are made from nylon 6/6 and it is bondable with a number of adhesives. I’m thinking one of the softer urethanes might give it some body and still be soft enough to make a decent cushion? Maybe not? Certainly could be a conversation generator!

Love this. I particularly appreciate no-sew solutions that are done within moments. Here's my similar solution for my set of files. Kept them in this roll for years - they don't get a ton of use and the roll fits in the toolbox drawer, so it's a great solution for me.

Another no sew idea I had is to cut the side pockets off of worn out cargo pants. Then I put two grommets in the top and a loop of cord through them. I used to wear it under my shell to keep snacks from freezing while skiing. I called it the lowangle Al candy bar caddy.
It would make a good thwart bag for small items.
