I saw a canoe with slight indentations behind the stem on both sides, both ends. Is this normal? Does it affect the performance? I might be interested in buying this boat.

Yes, this is the case. Is it a defect in your mind? I've owned many canoes, no such issue. Seems like it could affect the glide, might put stress on a joint, might even be a beneficial aspect, hell, I don't know. Like I said, never noticed it before.might it be where the flotation tanks are glassed in? I've seen a few boats where you can see them from the outside
Man, my paddling stroke is so efficient, and since I'm training for the crosscountry paddling olympic competition, I may have to pass on this baby. That drag coefficient might hurt my chance at gold.
