Mid 1960’s
Totally Restored about 5 years ago by Jim in CT at Schuyler Thomson’s shop . Few planks were added. Plus end caps. I probably have a thread on the site somewhere.
What can I say about it?
Wonderful to paddle solo, last trip was with Robin up in Maine.
Just had my knee replaced again so the weight ( app 64 lbs) is an issue. I fell in love with the WC boats and enjoyed paddling it. Probably in the water 20-25 times.
Did discover a crack in a plank. The NJ Devil must have caught me on my pine barrens overnight.
I’m located on Long Island NY, willing to meet up somewhere when weather gets better.
Life changes aren’t easy. But I’m still going to continue canoe tripping.
I found pictures when I bought it in NH, did my own cleaning ( eye burn from that stripper).
Robin and I did some planking removal, then brought it to schuler’s shop to have them professionally restore and paint it.
I’ll post it on Chestnut canoe in Facebook, will add it to WCHA site and bring it up to Paul Smiths this summer during their assembly.
Thanks
David.
