Wile on a trip to BC, I got a really nice old Arvika 5 star racing axe made by HB 4.5 lbs head, in really good condition, other than needing a good sharpening and a sheet!! I just finished a sheet for it!! I really enjoy working leather, still a lot to learn and I do need a proper hand sewing tool kit!!

Thank you guys, I think I saw that design here some where, maybe Memaquay had one made for him or something like that!! I really like simple designs, They are usually as effective as more complex ones and details are what really make a design yours!!!

I glue the leather pieces together with contact cement first. Then I use a small drill bit and drill holes to be stitched. Makes sewing much easier.

that is exactly what I did on that one, but I prefer using a stitching awl to punch my holes, it makes for a nicer tighter hole around the stitching, but I don't have a proper one.... I could also use my sewing machine and be done with it in a minute....

Nice work, I like it. I have a few to do and I think that drilling the thread holes first is the way to go on my first try.
Thanks

There is nothing wrong with drilling the holes, especially if you have a drill press. Be sure to show us your work!!
