I think the high float PFDs could have a good application for flatwater paddlers as well. In the event of a capsize the higher you float the easier it is for you to re-enter the canoe.
It's been years since I tried on a PFD but at the time I wasn't happy with the fit and comfort of the high floats available. I'll have to give these a try when I get a chance.
