Hello,
Just moved to St John's and am sniffing out paddling opportunities. I see on google earth there's a few small rivers one might be able to paddle down in the southern coast such as the Rocky and Hodge rivers. Wondering if anyone has any experience in this area?

We saw those rivers last month and even though July was wet they were walkable. Maybe in the spring they would be OK. We brought sea canoe and kayak which was handier for us. Trespassey was very nice
Also liked the Trinity and Elliston areas and Ferryland and Dildo Run/Twillingate areas and Salvage in Terra Nova
But these are all coastal areas. The Main is enticing as well as The rivers near Deer lake

St John's is unique to me in that muskeg ponds are in the city limits. Getting to some is a slog though. We waded through to get to one on Fogo. It's s shame that the bigger rivers are out of weekend range. It's a full day to get out to the West Coast.
But don't discount ocean canoeing particularly in Terra Nova Sandy pond was just OK but nice and sheltered for families
