Back in 2014 my house burned and I lost, I thought, every canoe trip journal I wrote up. Today while cleaning out a shed I went through 4 tubs of "stuff" that survived. Holy S*&t, at the bottom was my journal from 1974, my first major canoe trip down the Albany River to the James Bay, down the bay and up to Moosenee! I was 14 years old at the time and we were out for 29 days, 26 of them being in heavy rains and cold. Lots of stories in this journal and am happy a piece of my personal history survived.
I kept turning it over in my hands and can honestly say there may have been a tear or two involved with this discovery. It has the smell of a house fire but is not damaged beyond that. Just another journey for the journal I guess.
I'm going to sit back with a cold beer(s), a ceegar of types and relive a trip!
