I bought 5- 21 foot boards of ash the other day, they have been in a barn for years. Full 1"x 4 or 5" rough sawn, I'm saving these for my wood canvas canoes and using the 10' boards for plastic canoes.

dang it that is the find of the century for sure Robin, 20 feet boards are pretty rare these days... Is the stuff quite clear? We need pictures of the stuff.... :)

Don't show pics ! I don't think I could stand it ! :(
OK! I took a deep breathe. I'm thinking I can handle it !
Most of the mills around here, can maybe cut up to 14'.

Nice find Robin! I've been buying 20' ash planks from a small company a couple towns over for a few years now, https://goosebaylumber.net. I always have to call ahead to make sure they have some and then I have to really go through it to find the clearest one I can. I should probably buy a couple as ash is getting killed by the Emerald Ash Borer.

Frank from Norfolk Boat Works (Norfolk, Ct, used to be Schuyler Thomson's shop) called me and asked me if I was interested. He was buying a load of white cedar from a guy nearby and he had 8 boards to sell. I paid $35 a board which is higher than what ash goes for in short lengths, but 21' is great to have for 18plus foot canoes. It's all clear, 2 or 3 are 5" wide but I think I can get 4 rails from eax\ch board with Franks big band saw
