16' wooden Great Canadian canoe

Good morning. I just purchased what I believe is a 16' wooden Great Canadian canoe. I am interested in finding out its age a general value. The serial number on the placard is 05055M85. Any help is appreciated. Dave

I would proudly paddle that boat. Similar to my Old Town Guide 18.
If I had my life to live over again I would have bought a wood and canvas canoe in my 20s instead of age 48.

Nice looking canoe. It has a nice used looking patina. Maybe keep it as is.

There are no known serial number records available for Great Canadian canoes. The format of the serial number you provided doesn't exactly match the hull identification number format described at https://www.usps.org/national/safety/HIN/HIN.pdf but the "M85" probably means that it was manufactured in 1985.
