Is Social Media Undermining and Distorting Actual Wilderness Experiences?

We've worked hard to uphold the "belief" that Canada is a dangerous treacherous region. We have man eating bears, deadly moose and honking geese that make politicians quiver in fear. We would politely ask you to stop spreading misinformation about Canada, that it is such a wonderful friendly...

    Canoe Pulk

Hello Everyone, I was thinking the other day of getting to some hard to reach lakes in winter time. Where I reside winter is a long ordeal and summer is anticipated with a lot of longing. Canoeing being that longing. There are so areas where sections of river and or lakes are difficult to...

    Single Trip Carry Portage Techniques

I got out of thru-hiking for all the weight counting and dehydrated food to get into more canoeing because I can bring good food, cast iron, and other things. I take two to three trips if I have to. I'm out to enjoy and relax. If it means more trips on a portage then I do that. Can't beat a...

    Winter footwear preferences?

I usually run a La Sportiva Bushido II trail runner year round. I wear a merino wool liner sock in them. I have hot feet so it works for me. Sometimes I use a waterproof sock in spring for the slush. I've been thinking I really could use a cold weather shoe though, I need something lined...

Plywood is like Black Tar Heroin to Porcupines, they love the glue. You can bait traps with it. Spread some on the ground around your place you want to keep safe and then shoot or trap them. They love car wiring and rubber brake lines. Out here people chicken wire their cars before leaving them...

Bowron Lake Canoe Circuit Late Autumn 2024

Highly recommend the trip to anyone. During the summer I'm sure it's an even more amazing experience. You could fly out and use an outfitter but seeing you have nice wood strip canoe you wouldn't want an outfitter boat.

Bowron Lake Canoe Circuit Late Autumn 2024

The Loon looked at me like I was an alien in his foggy wonderland. The low hanging clouds and fog in the morning made for an ethereal landscape. He called and then as my paddle made a splash down he went into the dark waters beneath us. I paddled slowly enjoying the mist and quiet waters. No...
