    I’ve heard it called, rabbit starvation. When the body runs out of fat it starts consuming itself. Woodsmen and trappers suffered in the winter without sufficient fats. Read of on fellow that was known for using a large part of his winter flour making greasy donuts to keep him going.

    Familiarity breeds contempt. Both wolves and black bears. I once heard a biologist say that you are just so much protein walking around. He was referring to black bears at the time but I can’t think wolves would be different.

    Tradition. Old school was tent poles leaning against a tree and an enough firewood to make a fire. A bunch of birch bark stuffed in the bundle. I’ve welcomed the wood after a long hard day. Especially in rough weather.

    here in SW Ohio I’m seeing some good colors. We have been dry so I’m not expecting great colors. In the past week it’s been changing more.
