Beyond phones, what photo and video equipment for canoe trips?

I video 80% of my trips and my equipment package is very simple.....a Go pro, Iphone and an old Sony Handycam that I bought from the Sony refurbishment center online. I recently added a DJI Mavic Mini 3 pro which is a huge learning curve for me. Every time I send it up I either forget to...

This Campfire tent looks like an enlarged Baker Tent which is very intriguing. Really nice set up Robin. Looks cozy as ever.

How many have paddled the Maine Island Trail (MITA) by canoe?

I have watched their videos many times. They were quite busy for quite some time including inland waters. The Malamute is a beautiful dog.

How many have paddled the Maine Island Trail (MITA) by canoe?

This is exactly what I am thinking. I have been eyeballing the Old Town Big Water 132 but my research is in its infancy. My son enjoys salt water fishing and I am considering ways to get us both out on the ocean safely while still being able to realize usage of the many campsites offered by...

How many have paddled the Maine Island Trail (MITA) by canoe?

Glenn there is no definitive track or trail other than the MIT is 375 miles of coast line which provides for over 200 campsites in coordination with private land owners allowing members to use their land. A paddler would need to map out there own route based on their abilities.

How many have paddled the Maine Island Trail (MITA) by canoe?

I have an insane urge to paddle the Maine Island Trail. I do not own a sea kayak or any kayak for that matter, however I do have 5 canoes sitting in my garage. I may not be the smartest man, however I do believe I am smart enough not to attempt some of the far reaching islands on the trail...

    Chesuncook camping fees

Most of the campsites on Chesuncook Lake are part of the Penobscot River Corridor. The Caribou Checkpoint is normally the gate that you come across when putting in on Lobster Trip and the other checkpoint entering the North Maine Woods from the west would be 20 Mile Checkpoint. I am sure...

Five day base camp trip on Seboeis Lake in Maine

Sounds like your boy first trip was a success! There is no cheating when it comes to a first trip.....the cabin rental was probably what made them feel extremely comfortable on their first trip. Glad you have those memories with your boys!

Five day base camp trip on Seboeis Lake in Maine

Its a great lake to visit for sure. Hopefully there wasn't too much boat traffic. I thought that I may have recognized the campsite that you based camped at but then I wasn't sure unless the firepit was relocated. Looks like the weather treated you both well. Great canoe kits and great...

    Another Royalex Repair question

Its hard to tell exactly what is going on with your particular canoe but I would have to agree with the others that the original vinyl layer was painted over for aesthetic reasons. I have restored multiple royalex canoes with cold cracks up the ying-yang and used g-flex epoxy to repair those...

    Canoe seats

Great thread and after reading through this thread I believe I need to tackle this project at some point. The comfort element is paramount and I couldn't agree more that the flat seats are just not cutting it for me anymore. Appreciate you sharing this Jim!

    Photo of the day

I think this season is the season to make an attempt at encouraging my wife to join me on a canoe trip. I have tentative plans to travel with my son, daughter and my wife to Lobster Lake. I have paddled many lakes in Maine and have paddled the West Branch a bunch, but I have never been to...

    Sewing projects

I purchased Duluth pack sewing plans and looked them over. The plans all seemed greek to me and will require more understanding and education, but I know someday I will sew some interesting things, however at the moment I am thankful for your warning. I have enough going on right now to not...

    Custom Wood Canvas Canoe Restoration

I have been busy restoring this old custom wood canvas canoe for a couple that needed a hand with bringing their canoe back to life. The canoe desperately needed sheer planking repair, stem repair/ replacement, new canvas, 42 rib tops and outwales. The canoe is presently in the 30 day curing...
