Good Morning . Idle chat about your morning, your weather, your plans for the day.

Technology isn’t always good but one of my favourite uses is connecting to like minded people. 2019 was an old post so I guess we been both around for awhile. It would be wonderful to be able to go do our thing with lots of energy but time catches up with all of us. I am still doing pretty...

    easy to cook dinner options

We used the Mountain House freeze dried meals and they are delicious and quick. I like oatmeal in a package for breakfast if we are planning to get on the river quickly but I love having lots of time to cook bacon and eggs on my cast iron frying pan on my wood burning rocket stove. Dinner is...

Good Morning . Idle chat about your morning, your weather, your plans for the day.

In NewBrunswick, Canada the club have been out at about 5 times now. There is still snow on the banks and the water is some frigging cold if you go for a dunk. The air temps are around freezing so getting out and changing is not much fun either. Think I am getting old because I am waiting for...

Who’s still paddling a Royalex solo boat

They are just so trustworthy they are hard to give up. I had mine for 15 years and thought about selling it and getting a 24 foot freighter but I just can stand the thought of not having that trustworthy boat. Not only is it trustworthy but it has sentimental value.

Who’s still paddling a Royalex solo boat

I have a Royalex old town Tripper 17.2. I bought it new about 15 year ago. I like it alot in most situations. It's not great in the wind but a forgiving boat in moving water. It weights around 115 lbs, and is rated to handle 900 lbs, it has nice secondary stability, and is maneuverable even...

Good Morning . Idle chat about your morning, your weather, your plans for the day.

I'm faced with mixed emotions about the forcasted warming trend and rain. I don't like how everything will turn to ice making for slippery driving and walking but there is a hint of excitement in the air. There will be a break in the ice on the rivers which is a testament that spring is coming...

    New Brunswick Canoe Trips

When you go for 5 days you need camping gear, fishing gear, food and coolers and coolers full of beer. Haha. When I trip solo I use my old town tripper 17.2 The cold was unexpected. We awoke to cold and damp so I wore every piece of clothes I had. It kept me warm enough to enjoy the experience.

It's a great way to wake up to a message from fellow canoe trippers so I'll post something for you all. First off good morning. I'm sitting in on Cape Breton Island at the freezing point temp. It's warmer today but It's been -15c for the past few weeks with snow everyday. I like winter but...

    New Brunswick Canoe Trips

Let's discuss canoe trips in NewBrunswick. I lived in NewBrunswick for 33 years but originally from Cape Breton Nova Scotia. Don't get me wrong....Cape Breton has splendour but there is just something about the wilderness of NewBrunswick. I can't put my finger on why but the Miramichi river...

    Miramichi River, New Brunswick

Awesome, Awesome report. The Miramichi holds a special place with me as it does with many others who has experienced it. If I see a picture, map or story regarding the Miramichi, I am drawn in; I study it and seek some sore of deeper meaning. Perhaps it is the incredible times I had or maybe...

Enjoy your trip to Florida. I suspect fighting alligators will be no harder than dealing with the ice.

    Oh Canada!....

East coast Canada where I am at, the winter is seldom more than -15 c. But most times it is damp. If it is dry -15 it a nice day. When it is damp, -5 will chill you to the bone.

Good Morning . Idle chat about your morning, your weather, your plans for the day.

Today’s blizzard & a hack for unclogging a snow blower. The harbour in front of our homestead is ice free at the moment but I won’t be out canoeing today. An afternoon blizzard with 20cm (8 inches) of white gold falling before changing to rain is forecasted. The roads will not be safe so I...
