Which of 4 boats? So far...

I’ve been looking at the Clipper, which is Canadian. The thing about the Caribou S that has me intrigued is that it is designed to be paddled from the knees if you want, which is how a tend to paddle. I’d love to try it out.

Stopping the tent collapsing under a heavy snow load

Just magic I guess. It stays and is very stable. I’ve learned I don’t even have to tie the ridge pole up and it’s still very sturdy.

Stopping the tent collapsing under a heavy snow load

I use 8 poles. 3 at back, 2 at front, ridge pole and two along the sides to pull the tent out. Bigger poles then?

Stopping the tent collapsing under a heavy snow load

I'd like to leave the prospector tent set up out in the bush and use it as a regular overnighter and warm up spot for winter ice fishing trips but worry about it collapsing under the snow load. How do others deal with this?

Lightweight, Comfortable sleeping pad for big guy

Not easy being tall, you're a slave to short people. "Can you reach that?, Can you reach that?"

Lightweight, Comfortable sleeping pad for big guy

Sealy postturepedic pillow top mattress. They are a b*tch to portage but guaranteed a good nights sleep. Or you can do what I did, stop sleeping on the ground. I'm 6'1" 250lbs and I've never looked back. Most comfortable sleep I've ever had. If I was single I'd sleep in one at home.

    Little Pic River

Late to the thread here but thanks for the entertaining read on this lazy Friday morning. I love that YouTube channel and thinks it’s awesome Jonathan is a member here. As far as the deodorant goes, look at the keeper Jonathan has. Beautiful and a real trooper when it comes to tripping...

Personal hygiene on extended trips (The Deodorant Debate)

Try something called No More Monkey Butt for when it’s too late but routine anti chaffing cream from MEC for cyclists prevents the problem altogether

Personal hygiene on extended trips (The Deodorant Debate)

I got to keep my uh, um, nether regions clean to avoid nasty rashes. I’m a fan of using wet wipes as well. Being in the Bush is not a reason to forget good hygiene. I still like to wash my face in hands with warm water. I still try to maintain good oral hygiene as well. However, how I smell...

Chukuni Outdoor Supply in Red Lake, Ontario

He did not sell the business, Chukuni Outdoor Supply is a separate business. Richard, the owner seems like a pretty nice guy. I don't think the canoeing is his thing but I don't see that being a roadblock to his success. I'm almost positive the new owner does not want to be associated with RLO...

    Energy or Protein Bars?

I prefer Larabar. They are much healthier with natural ingredients and no added sugar to give you a crash I tried making king my own. Which I still have some 3 years later. They’re still good. Peanuts have a high energy to weight ratio I believe so any peanut based bar is good.

    Wintertrekking.com down?

This may have something to do with the previous owner. He’s left a bit of mess behind as he cuts and runs away from his commitments. I feel bad for Glen , he’s a nice guy who got mixed up with the wrong person

Wolf attack family inside a tent in Banff National Park

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/wolf-attack-rampart-creek-banff-1.5245105 Crazy story. The thought that a weak dying wolf was able to pull a full sized man from a tent is astounding. Also scary as *expletive. I routinely camp solo during hunting season where Ive hear wolf packs of 6 or...

    Cookware

I have a 600ml and I think 1400ml titanium pots from Toaks. Light as all get out and is more than enough pot for me solo. I have larger GSI sets for family trips.

    Topic Knot for You

I learned most of my best hitches from the late Phil Cotton. I use the Western Saddle Cinch for a ridge line and half hitches to secure the tarp to it. Bowlines are another favourite. I use a prussik for one of my tarps too which fascinated me.

    Spring has Sprung!

Ugh. I hate that trend. Bike is a two wheeler this the no part of the word. Some do that here too. Booter in Manitoba is when your foot gets wet from sinking it in a puddle or the like. Spring melt is when the snow gives way to 6 months of dog crap exposing itself on my lawn. I love my dogs...
