I hear you. Thanks for checking in with me on that. I'm now aware that only "dead & down" wood is allowed to be harvested and standing dead wood is not. Interesting to go back and check some wood processing videos including from members here and see that they actually are processing fallen trees.

Cedar River Flow, ADK in November

A few friends and I were planning on visiting Lows and camping at Hitchens Pond but upon arrival they were working on the dam and access was closed for two or so weeks. My backup plan was to visit Cedar River Flow since I hadn't been and it's an hour less driving. The winds and rain kept us at...

    canoe in deer hunt 2016

Looks like a great camp setup. I'll be doing the same trip next weekend with a first night at Horseshoe due to late arrival. Better break out my winter gear and be ready for the chill. Better luck hunting on the next one.

ok, thanks for the update and following up. I think for the price it would make for a fine first tent to mess with although i'm still looking for a ST. I'm less than an hour to Harriman or Delaware State Forest in PA if you open the invite.

WTB SnowTrekker 8x10 Basecamp and Stove or Similar

thx for the info. There sure are plenty of options. That is exactly what I'd like to go for, motivated by your videos and J. Kelly and Derek from the Woodsman School and Guide Service. I'm not afraid to sew or DIY but I've never even been in one of those tents so hesitate to start making my...

Just starting to look into a winter wall tent setup with a stove. So far my favorite is the SnowTrekker 8x10 Basecamp. It would only need to fit 2 people. Please share if you have something to offer. Thanks.

Thanks for the feedback guys. : ) ahh, cool. I had read of the possibility of seeing the aurora but only saw some lingering light in the sky in the direction of Saranac Lake. May have been too overcast to see anyway. thanks on the Brookies. Was curious what the opinions on keeping a meal of...

Thx, Robin. Some water and woods knowledge along with bacon and a cold steel pan can do a lot. Glad to have found the forum, some talented trippers here with great skills.
