    25oz ww paddle....

I like that... a lot. Who should I make my check payable to?

    Upper Jacks Fork, MO (Video)

Didn't really matter. Mother nature was determined to get me wet. There was a huge storm Saturday night.

    Upper Jacks Fork, MO (Video)

I was a rendezvous newbie this year. I have yet to pick up on all the inside jokes. What a great time though. I'm hooked and will be at as many future events as I can.

Trailer with canoes on Catskill CL

Woah looks like that kayak melted to the frame

pblanc I would definitely be up to do the Jacks Fork again during the rendezvous. It's definitely runnable right now. There's a lot of trees down, but only one across the whole river and that was below Bay Creek. It looks worse than it is in the video since I was taking all the narrow channels...

Thanks yellowcanoe. I did some backwards poling a few weeks ago on the Buffalo over two pinned canoes. Everbody thought I was showing off, but really I just F'd up. I've always had pretty good balance, but lately I've been using one of the physical therapy wobble boards. It really does help to...

Giving in to modernity (way off topic)

I have a phone book for when the apocalypse comes. How else will I know which places to loot without the internet? Also unlimited supply of cigarette papers.

    Upper Jacks Fork, MO (Video)

Floated the Jacks Fork from the Prongs to Alley Spring for Memorial Day weekend. Gauges were running good all the way up and there's significant flood damage the whole way. Here's a video of some skinny parts of the upper section. I did some practice up hill poling too since that's my weakest...

    DIY solo portage yoke ideas?

No Title Gate hinges with the pins ground off and punched out, replaced with R clip pins.

    Solo daytripper - design ideas

24" at waterline is very narrow. That's slightly narrower than John Winters Barracuda for example. Which if you're not familiar is a pretty extreme speed hull. I haven't opened your hull up in delftship yet, but just based on the numbers and hearing its got a fairly rounded bottom, I'd consider...

What do you wear to paddle in the rain?

Learning to be comfortably damp. I think that's the biggest issue to accept with canoe tripping. Whether it's clothing or tents or gear. I could be wrong though, the biggest hurdle might be accepting that the wind always blows the wrong direction.

    Dry bag for sleeping mat?

I was just being a smart arse. Plan on making a gun case. Thanks for the idea.

    Dry bag for sleeping mat?

    I don't know... sounds complicated

What do you wear to paddle in the rain?

Another vote for the Frogg Toggs jacket or poncho. I've accepted that my legs will always be wet from wading, so I wear wet suit bottoms under military surplus pants.

    Solo 14

Saw your Kite down at the Buffalo last weekend. Nice job for your first build. I couldn't find any faults. You and Jim need to come down for the fall rendezvous or next spring. It was a great time. The high water made for some nice rapids. Brad got a hell of a deal on a nice canoe. You'll have...

    Solo daytripper - design ideas

Here in lies the problem for the home builder; unless it's a John Winters design finding plans for commercial hulls is difficult. Maybe you can convince someone to lend you a hull, or buy one and sell it afterwards to use as a male plug. Otherwise you're designing it yourself.

    Mem's making a paddle so do I....

Those are gorgeous. Well done. Great details and accents.

    Treet

Heard of it, but never tried. Apparently it's only good enough for Arkansawyers, and only snakes and thieves come from Arkansas.

    Carbon Copy Kite

Good looking boat. Do you use the seat pedestal rails as the carry yoke?

Set up a canoe for poling

Only other thing to consider that I can think of is ease of getting an extra pole under the thwarts or just consider how and where to stow an extra. A few inches can make all the difference ;)
