Sylvania Wilderness - Clark and Loon Lakes

Thanks to 'the grind' even the rainiest trips are remembered a bit more sunny. This reminded me how difficult it is to sleep with frogs close to the tent. Nice write up.

    Video: Clear Passage

Take a little tour of some of the lakes in Prince Albert National Park in this video. Finally got some bird sounds too.

    Nice self made Baker tent

Sure does look cozy set up like that. Looks like the poles go along for the ride. I wonder what the bed is propped up on.

Video: Last Canoe of the Season

redoleary Thanks, I almost missed this comment. The ice was getting a bit close when I chose to lift my fingers away. If you were watching the ice shelf closely did you happen to notice an item of trash in the video? Thanks for watching.

Video: 7 Days in Algonquin Provincial Park 2015

Video: Last Canoe of the Season

Odyssey Thanks for checking it out! Here's a short clip of the river a week later when I filmed the hiking scenes. https://instagram.com/p/BBNrGWgwo0R/

Video: Last Canoe of the Season

Jim Dodd I've never paddled with an Aluminum Paddle. Spent a lot of time on aluminum ladder rungs though. Way colder than a wooden paddle! Thanks for the compliment! Rippy I feel if I didn't share them here, they'd never be seen. Thanks for watching! Robin I'm glad you do, I enjoy yours too...

    DIY Wool Blanket Camp Sweater

Murat V that's awesome! I'm sure the satisfaction of having a custom made, one of a kind, using reused material, warm, spark tolerant sweater wont loose its charm ever. Love the globe knot finish. I can't tell how you did the collar, but it looks great. Thanks for sharing.

Video: Last Canoe of the Season

Here's the last bit of footage I got before I dared not paddle along side crashing ice. It's a short video this time with no narration as usual, but also without music. Just the sounds you hear in winter out here.

    Modern Voyageurs 1920s

That's a nice find. I camp in Prince Albert National Park every fall once the summer camping season is done. It's very peaceful. That rail portage is well maintained. We went for a hike down that portage in 2014 and made it 50 meters from the put in at the north end when a bear walked out of the...

Video: Beaver Dam, Chickadee, Muskrat, Canoe

Thanks for the "enjoyable" remark Canoencowboy. The next day I went out again to this area of the river. There was a moment when a coyote was at the rivers edge a long way off watching me . It stared for about a half minute and ducked back into the brush. Maybe five minutes later I had paddled...

Video: Beaver Dam, Chickadee, Muskrat, Canoe

Hey BWCA66, it's nice to hear it was interesting enough to warrant a second look. Thanks for the review, and good luck with your outing.

Video: Beaver Dam, Chickadee, Muskrat, Canoe

To Mama: Thanks for the feedback on the flickering. Im glad you thought the music was good. Its very time consuming and difficult to find an appropriate/fitting sound. To Odyssey: It was a relaxing little adventure. The creek was frozen over by the next weekend, and the river is full of...

Snowed in on Rain Lake, Algonquin PP November 2015

I haven't heard that expression for winter either. Definitely going to make use of it. Nice write up. Beautiful setting.

Video: Beaver Dam, Chickadee, Muskrat, Canoe

This outing was filmed on a snowless November 5th. I took a detour off the South Saskatchewan River. I hope you enjoy it.

    Last paddle of the season

That canoe is a beaut'. Nice video too; looks like a nice getaway spot youve got there.

    Deer camp canoe trip

Nice camera angles in that video. Even in the tent! Nice write up and pictures too. Sounds like filming a video was probably one of the easier parts of that trip. That 18 footer has a nice traditional look to it, so even if you left empty handed, you still left in style.

    October in the Kawartha Highlands

Well written and great photography. ...I'd say yellow.

    Video: Time in a Canoe

To Rippy: Thank you for watching. To Snapper: Yeah, they're sandals. I omitted some footage where I'm washing the muck off them and my feet. No stubbed toes that time. To Mama: Wow and thanks for the nice comment. It was a fantastic trip.

    Billy goes poling

The rafting videos he put out recently are good too. There's videos with a dugout canoe and some with a tarp canoe, and even a spruce bark canoe. He's a traditional Canadian skills kind of guy I think. I second the recommendation.
