Building a cedar strip canoe in 30 days

This was recommended to me today, and it was well done. I thought of this forum right away. Maybe it's here already but I couldn't find it. Only posted 2 months ago on YouTube... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mWvIqGlFhIo

    Video: Withdrawal

alsg Happy to hear it! Jim Dodd Sounds like a wise decision. I was wondering if I'd wear through the fibreglass on a few of the rocks I went by. Iskweo Did you recognise the few clips near the regional park there? Thanks for the comment! PaddlingPitt Good to hear and thanks for watching!

    Video: Withdrawal

Had to get out and found a few nice places. Hope it takes your mind away from all the repetition in the news.

    Labrador Passage

It seemed like nothing was ever going to be released. Now I see two years ago this came out. Thanks for linking this. I was really interested when this was in the works and was disappointed when no video seemed to be coming.

    Video: When the Water Turns

Jim Dodd Thanks! I find the chickadee's are especially friendly in the winter. They're only sharing space with magpies and crows so maybe they feel they can explore more freely. Odyssey I wonder what kind of score I could've gotten had I used traditional gear?.. Thanks! PaddlingPitt Thanks for...

Poll: How old were you when you got YOUR OWN first canoe (and what was it)?

At age 33 I bought the 16' fiberglass Northern Canoes Prospector that I use in the videos I make. I got it for $1400, which was a deal, as it was a demonstrator boat. It had barely any signs of use and, needless to say, I went home happy that day.

    NFB - Skin For Skin

Good recommendation. I would have otherwise never watched it. The title is pretty vague.

Video: Solitaire | Canoeing the Gem Lakes

Gerald Thanks! I'll have to search your posts for photos. "Mountains North of Montreal" sounds scenic.

Video: Solitaire | Canoeing the Gem Lakes

PaddlingPitt Thanks. Have you been there (bit of a short drive compared to what I read from you)?

Video: Solitaire | Canoeing the Gem Lakes

RickR Thanks! In the last minute of the video, I'm stalled for a bit facing away from the camera because a wind gust came up and I couldn't torque it. I was sitting where I usually do though; should've slid up to the middle. Odyssey Thank you for the nice comments. It's silent, calm, clear and...

Video: Solitaire | Canoeing the Gem Lakes

Crystal clear lakes and lush colorful portages await those who watch this video. This is a beautiful area in the Eastern half of the province.

Paddle abuse - Gunwale thumpers and scrapers

I just got a negative comment on the first video I made on YouTube. Good to see you experienced people understand the gunwale pry. Maybe the commenter doesn't believe in a little more relaxed paddling technique. If I don't gunwale pry, I hold the paddle away from the canoe levering off an...

Winter lunch; last canoe of the season

Waterdog Sounds rough. Especially since it sounds like you're an active person. Make it a heartier soup than the one I had. Ralph Thanks for being a regular viewer! Erica Sounds like great times. Thanks for the comment!

    Video: Backwater

Dagger : Appreciate it. Thank you! mwaalen : While that's an unintended outcome, your statement speaks loudly.. It's hard to edit them, sometimes weeks later, only to have the visual reminder intensify the appetite. Balance is so important. I sure don't want that to get worse. Sometimes I laugh...

    Video: The Only Way

Dagger : That makes this video a healthy choice. Lol. Thanks. If you want to see more, I have a newer video over in this topic: http://www.canoetripping.net/forums/forum/media-room/85404-video-backwater
