    Northwest Passage Solo

Made some progress on the forms. One left plus the bow and stern forms. The good news is that I didn't buy any plywood just used my old forms from the Freedom 17.

What's happening in your shop this winter?

Jim I thought about something like that but then I looke my pile of 250 disks and decided I wouldn't have the patience to put them all on the dowels. I know how lazy I am!!

What's happening in your shop this winter?

Oops not that great at adding pictures with my iPad. Basically the top isjust set on the box, lift up the front to pull out the tray. The glass gets glued to the underside when I want to use it I take it off flip it over and put it on the bench the lip in the back acts as a hook to keep it from...

What's happening in your shop this winter?

I just got started on a sand paper storage box. It will have a pull out tray that will hold various 5" hook and loop grits, slots to hold full sheets and a side compartment to hold sharpening stones and jigs. The top will be removable with a glass inset so I have a nice setup for sharpening...

    Northwest Passage Solo

All right two positive opinions from guys that know better than me. Looks like I'll go for it. I would start the forms this weekend but when I printed the PDFs it came out 20% bigger than expected. I guess I'll rake leaves this weekend and start the boat next week. As a side note, I think I...

Has anyone built or paddled this canoe? Thinking I need a solo and this seems like a decent candidate.

    Homemade burlap sack camp chair

Yeah, I just finished remaking the chair a little taller. I'm thinking they aren't that great (at least the one I made). the joints are pretty stressed and the wood is really creaking. I think it will break before long. I'm guessing that the dimensions are critical to keeping everything...

    Homemade burlap sack camp chair

Thanks for the idea Murat. I'll make a couple changes of the next one, I think it's a little wide and maybe a little to reclined. My daughter thinks the back could be longer tosupport your head.

What's happening in your shop this winter?

Alan, I thought of a couple of improvements for your fabric storage setup. Measurement marks on the table to make it easy to pull the correct amount off the role . And an outfeed reel, that way the fabric can be brought over and rolled onto the boat while crease free and without dragging on the...

    Homemade burlap sack camp chair

No Title I just made a bucksaw chair, came out OK. My sewing isn't all that great but is was just a proof of concept. Pretty comfortable except it sags a little and my butt hits the cross piece a little. I finally had a reason to use my lathe!!

    Freedom 17 Strip build

I put the seats about as low as I could I have about an 8" gap below the frame.

    Freedom 17 Strip build

my wife and I took another short trip today and although the bow is riding a little high we both agree that it felt much more comfortable. I think it might have been my daughter that caused the twitches. I think the boat paddles really well. I have very good control from the back. Easy to keep...
