Used/ blems being sold by Redfeather Outdoors on FB

ORC bought bell canoes in 2007 or so? Most of the old bell molds and naming rights etc. Made boats for a few years and stopped. And that parent company also owns the snowshoe company? Interesting business. Back at boats under a new label? Sounds like you might be new to the team, bringing some...

    Fame awaits your Mohawk canoe

Peter I’m interested to hear more about the clipper viper. I would guess it is durable and stiff, maybe not so light? My first whitewater course was in a borrowed viper 11. Wet boat and I swam a lot but became a big fan of sharp edges. L A good teacher and I think faster path on the learning...

    Fame awaits your Mohawk canoe

Couple more shots, including a second viper 12. Such a classic longboat. Wonderful edge. Great control and speed. mine is fairly lightweight.

    Fame awaits your Mohawk canoe

I love my viper 12, and most of the Frankie Hubbard designs I’ve tried. So responsive and fun. I have shorter boats for serious whitewater so end up using this mostly on swift or bony class I-II rivers. Had it out last week on the Bois Brule in northwest WI. Would love to find one that is...

Looking to buy Gray Owl Freestyle Paddle

@carowby if you are still looking for a freestyle paddle let me know. I have a beautiful one that is new old stock condition but too short for my needs.

    Canoe paddle collectors

Here is a bent shaft carbon paddle produced under the brand name Barton. The Bartons are not to be confused with the paddles made by Black Bart (Bud Moll). The power face is totally flat with no dihedral. The non power face has a dihedral that is notably hollowed. My understanding is that the...

Just got a Mad River Monarch

Lucky duck! I’d love to have a lightweight monarch someday. Once I went to purchase a basic used solo and the seller had a minty white Kevlar monarch hanging up…selling for $650 and it had been spoken for five minutes before I arrived. Alas, there really is something about the ones that got away!

    Canoe paddle collectors

One more for now. This is a Quimby with a 32” shaft and small cruising blade, made on spec in 2019 and purchased new. Not light and not as well balanced as I prefer, but esquisite nonetheless. It seems beefy and durable and has proven to be an excellent tripping paddle. It’s all about the...

    Canoe paddle collectors

Some whitewater paddles I use without regard for their future. The Werner bandit in their orange fiberglass layup is incredibly well suited to the level of beatering I so regularly achieve in whitewater. Here you can see a new one and one after a few seasons. I paddle on the left mainly in...

    Canoe paddle collectors

Here are two Puddicombe paddles I sold recently. I bought four of them a couple of years ago. I still have one that fits me well, though it rarely gets used. Interestingly all of these had length labels that were 1” too long, in comparison to other paddles I have. For example, these were labeled...

Calling all canoe paddle collectors: consider posting any pictures or comments relating to some of the paddles you have enjoyed, kept, broken, or moved on down the line. I am hoping you all will help to curate an authoritative and centralized thread on nice paddles, paddle characteristics, and...

    Kevlar Curtis Nomad

Nomad is a dedicated solo (one seat) while Northstar would have likely had 2-3 seats. A used nomad is pictured here. Specs and photos of northstar and nomad are in this photo gallery.

Jump on a deal blind, or wait for Solo Rendezvous?

If minimizing carry weight is your goal, you will be pleasantly surprised what a delight it is to carry a boat 35# or less. So much easier to grab and load and repeat in reverse. And in my experience the improvements of impression seem to be exponential with a linear drop in weight. In terms...

Want to buy Black Bart paddles

Nice looking Barton paddles (different from the black barts). I have had a couple of Barton’s, both from their original Michigan owner and from after the business was sold to a Minnesota proprietor. I think they were bought out? Most Barton’s I’ve seen were on the beefier end of the carbon...

Want to buy Black Bart paddles

Thanks for checking on the 49”. And thanks for the GRB tip. About a year ago I asked via email if they would do a straight shaft symmetrical and they said it wasn’t a priority. I have been meaning to order a GRB6°

    Wabash Valley question?

I had a sweet Wabash Valley Merlin. Kevlar with white gel coat and wood trim. The fit and finish was excellent. 1988 iirc. That hull design was not what I wanted but it was a nice boat.

Want to buy Black Bart paddles

@Clint the link dead ends, perhaps the paddle sold already? I was lucky to track down some of the paddles I was after. They’re great. I would still be interested in a 52-53” straight shaft or a 49” bent shaft. Thanks for thinking of me.
