    Dogs. Especially canoe dogs

I can't start my jeep or load a canoe without this dog going ballistic. He is a great swimmer, but he won't jump in. He has to wade in, lol. His formal name is Baxter, but he goes by Fat Head

    Glimpses of a Canoe Trip - 1936

It's crazy to see how skinny and fit everyone was in old movies. My dad was 160lbs into his 40s. I haven't seen 160 since I was 14, lol.

    Charging a phone while tripping

In place of disabling features/data, etc. Just keep turned off unless you need it. Most smart phones boot very quickly. All the texts and missed calls will be waiting for you the next time you turn it on. I use mine for e-books and some times even movies, so I take this. It lets me recharge from...

Swiss Army Knife: Blade and Tools Preferences?

^^^^^ Back in 2013, the FAA and TSA was going to start allowing small blades back on planes. The flight attendants union filed suit to stop it. I fly for work quite a bit and was very disappointed. I just sat with a kid that brought a 3' long skateboard on the plane. If I were going to attack...

Does this drive anyone else nuts?

I once had the level of experience with rock crawling jeeps that many here have with canoeing. When someone would ask me an inane question about my competition level jeep, I'd say, "I have no idea, this is my sister's jeep" They'd walk away bewildered. Then I realized I was being an arse.

    Gloom and Doom

I change up my work schedule in Dec and do outside stuff several days a week in the mornings, 8-10ish, then I go to work. I have to plan stuff to keep myself busy. I also get 10hrs of sleep each night through the winter! So I recommend morning activity, work, Netflix and sleep.

    Tales of the Unexplained

This!!! As a scientist, I know nothing goes bump in the night with out a perfectly good reason. Statistically I know how few people are harmed by anything in the woods, so when I hear a pot fall, I think raccoon not grizzly bear. I'm also too lazy to open the tent to have a look, so I comforted...

    Yeti Go Box

Has anyone seen on of these up close? It looks like it would be perfect for day trips and/or warm weekend camping trips. With a foam pad, it would also double as a seat.

    Old Town Next?

Interesting, I've never tried a single blade paddle with mine. I'm 5'11" and use a 250 kayak paddle. Other than drips, I never experienced any problem. Seat back goes unnoticed for me. My stroke must be difference that a typical canoeist because several have mentioned seat back issues?
