Eclipse craziness has taken hold here in totality lane. All the seasonal restaurants and stores are opening ahead of usual. Village is filled with cars. They should of put up the parking meters rather than wait till Memorial Day as usual.
I will only add I've had no trouble cartoppingbon my 2018 Outback. Hood loops anchored with a screw that was there. Thule bars - a 56" and a 76" set for carrying two. And for long distances I tie the stern to the tow hitch - the loop where the safety chain attached.

The conclusion I'm reaching is just let your kevlar hull get scratched. It's probably not going to break. If you don't mind more weight (I do) t-formax is an option. It will bother me to see scratches but I can take it back to factory for renewed finish (or diy if inclined).
