New Issue with my Swift portage yoke

I have a wood clamp on home for my DR Tranquility and use it to flip canoe without hesitation or any problem. I have the Swift clamp on carbon fiber home for Swift Prospector and just have to be a little careful, mostly tightening it, and very few problems. It seems the bolt on is not a cure-all.

New Issue with my Swift portage yoke

My Prospector was built before Swift came up with inserts. Just a clamp. They added what I best describe as a high quality textured tape to the gunwales. Works just ok. Talked to Bill at Canoecopia and he said if I brought it to the factory (6 hours and was thinking of combining with an...

    Keen Men's Arroyo II

My son who has been on more than half my trips says I wouldn't like the Arroyo, and should have more of a boot - that drains. I must be in a shrinking market segment because Chota stopped and I can't find anyone else.

    Keen Men's Arroyo II

Just for reference this is what I have now. (Discontinued) I really don't like the ones open at the heel with just a strap. I wish the openings on the Arroyo were mesh covered. I'll guess I'll go for Keen hiking boots.

    Keen Men's Arroyo II

Well, trying to use the "free" aspect, but also have not found anything like the Chota Caney Forks, which I loved. I've been looking for nearly a year. Thank you for the comments. PS: I did think the Arroyo was the most closed of the Keen water shoes and though with a sock covered foot, not...

    Keen Men's Arroyo II

I won a pair of keens at canoecopia and was looking at these. I've worn Chota Caney Forks with Smart wool socks for years. Anybody wear or have tried the Arroyo II? Thanks!

    Hornbeck canoes expanding

I chatted with Hornbeck at Canoecopia. They are opening a store in twin cities but all manufacturing will stay where it is.

interesting Hornbeck still feels their kevlar is the most durable because it flexes whereas the other skins are stuffed and more brittle. I think how much my kevlar Souris Rivers have done fine banging into rocks and am a believer.

    easy to cook dinner options

All one pot meals: Zararain's red beans and rice with some summer sausage tossed in. Dressing, gravy mix, and foil pack chicken. Add mashed potatoes if you like. And not hard to dehydrate ground beef at home to toss into any number of supermarket noodle mixes.

    Canoecopia 2025

It was about racism as it deters black indigenous and people of color from many outdoor activities.

I attended this presentation this afternoon. It was very well attended. Well prepared and presented. I applaud the effort to counter racism.

    The new Swift Cirrus canoe

No canoe at Canoecopis, just the wood plug. Looks interesting. Maybe production models by June. Tariffs have them concerned.

    Which Canoe For Summer Solo?

I own a Swift Prospector 14 Pack. Quite stable. I don't do any white water. Adirondack streams around me, Osewegatchie, similar. Huge capacity: last year 2 large packs, a not very compact chair, a small pac, and a cooler. (NFCT work weekend) If you're up my way, I'd be pleased to let you try it.

    Paddlefest

I see Mountainman has announced Paddle fest 2025. May 16 to 18 in Old Forge. Might just go down, find someplace to camp, and look at gear.

    Canoecopia 2025

I'll get there Thursday and probably be there full time. I mostly go for the sessions. Over 15+ years haven't bought but 10 items, of course last 5 constrained by air travel. New restaurant last year - Liberty Station - ate there twice. BBQ. I also like Off Broadway Drafthouse. Honestly...

    Which Canoe For Summer Solo?

Where's your solo? I prefer my Tranquility in BWCA - mostly lakes and some big - and Swift Prospector in ADK streams and small waters. I'm doing a stretch of NFCT from Saranac to Eight between work weekends and it seems more like broad flat water, so thinking Tranq.

    Canoecopia 2025

There's usually been 2 or 3 sessions.a year on inclusivity. I've thought they were pretty good. Chicago Adventure Therapy has presented several times. Good stuff. I support them.
