    What Crooked Knife?

Thank you Snapper. I'll PM you for the contact info. On the reverse grip, in order to run the knife edge perpendicular to the work piece, and still straight toward me, and if edge and knife handle are axial, my wrist has to be angled. Or I would have to contort my arm and elbow to sort of make...

    What Crooked Knife?

Yup. Mediocre steel at best that comes with a terrible edge. I have just about...scratch that...I have given up on trying to make it into something it just isn't. The folks at the store told me it wasn't very good quality, so they weren't hiding anything. I just didn't understand at the time...

    GREETINGS FROM HEART OF EUROPE.

Ahoj Vašek, and welcome! I grew up in Germany, so we were neighbors for a while :). Your knifes look very nice! They look like you been making them for a while. Very nice craftsmanship! I personally take several knifes with me, depending on type and length of trip. Ka-Bar Becker BK2 Campanion...

    Sun Hat

Just retired my old Outback hat and got this one. Totally love it and reasonable price I thought. http://www.outbacktrading.com/river-guide-1497-brn-md?gclid=CjwKEAiAlNbEBRCv9uy4j4SWrgwSJAB5MqJFruVfU6Zb0v3I24oJmBRpo8XbPgrMsr-5k1wtlgZYtxoCa3Lw_wcB

    Adjustable sliding solo seat

Perhaps I missed it, but can you elaborate a little why you want seat adjustment? Is it the hull design? There are quite a few solo canoes with fixed seats, and they seem to get around just fine.

    Springbar Tent

Very different tents but both seem very well made. I'll probably end up with two tents. A manageable size and weight canvas tent, and a larger poly for the family.

    Springbar Tent

No Title I found this old Montgomery Ward 10' x 8' canvas Field Tent in Craigslist for very little money and had to buy it. It looks like it did not get much use and is in good shape. The trouble is, it has a cat pee odor problem. I read online about how to get rid of that smell, but I am...

    Springbar Tent

Thank you Nodrama. AO are great tents. The Quest intrigued me as well, for packability, but it is too small for 3 plus gear, and maybe a dog. The smallest I would even consider is the 8 or likely the 10. They didn't make it on my list, mainly because of the concern for adequate ventilation in...

Welcome Kathy! Few west coast folks here. I am near Sacramento, CA. Nice canoe! Cheers, Dagger

    Wenonah Rendezvous anyone?

As suspected, it is tuf-weave, the older version with glass (S,E,?). The seller let me test paddle it too, which was pretty easy since a lake was only 15 minutes away. I read enough about that hull, that I wouldn't have bought it if I couldn't test paddle it. As you said Mike, I read plenty...

    Wenonah Rendezvous anyone?

Ah...I see. I should have called it by the proper name. Probably shouldn't have called it a boat either...:)

    Wenonah Rendezvous anyone?

Bothwell, I called it fiberglass because the original Wenonah Tuf-Weave was mostly fiberglass. At least that's what I understood from a phone call with Wenonah a while back. I like your idea of the short spray deck a lot! I read a few other discussions on the web. It looks like different layups...

    Wenonah Rendezvous anyone?

I am interested in a Rendezvous I found locally. I have not seen the boat yet (other than a few photos), but the current owner says its Royalex. It does have a sliding seat though and a ridge down the centerline of the interiour of the canoe. I have never seen a royalex boat with those features...

Canoecopia Madison, WI, March 10-12, 2017

No canoe shows along the west coast I know of, so I'd love to go see the show in WI. I'd likely come home with a new canoe I don't really have the funds for. Maybe some day when I have the funds. I am already tired of looking at Wenonahs and Old Towns and the occasional Clipper. That's pretty...

    Springbar Tent

Southcove, There is a German expression for what you (and I) are looking for. It is called "Die Eierlegende Wollmilchsau", "the egg-laying wool-milk-pig". I have been comparing various canvas and poly tents for canoeing. More specifically, the type of canoeing/camping my family does most. We...

    Springbar Tent

No Title Sorry to keep spinning the yarn about canvas canoe tent possibilities here, but I think I am in love with this new (new to me) tent I found. Look at this think https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDO4WknzoVw The one in the video is 6x8, but the they also come in 8x10, 10x12 and in 12x14...
