    My new shoes...

    Optics for the ageing eyes

I guess it depends what you want to use it for. I have brought high quality bonos on canoe trips and rarely used them. i use my 6x mono for --whats that? or is there a carry or campsite on the other side of the lake and is it occupied?

    Optics for the ageing eyes

I find that more than 6x is shaky when using it afloat. I take a small lite Audibon brand 6x monocular. its not waterproof and I keep in a small plastic bag in my chest pocket. Real cheep 30$??.

if there is a drain on the bottom of the tank, you should open it momentarily every time you turn it on to drain condensation.

    Check you Air Compressor.

Most Air compressors usually have blow off valves set for a critical pressure to prevent this. Most are a screw in brass fitting with a metal ring. You should pull the ring periodically to make sure it isn't stuck or blocked. glad your ok.

    The Lowly Whistle: Critical Gear

When I was a high adventure boy scout leader, we used to take the boys to a remote place and told them to yell as loud and long as they could. 10 min later they realized that they were essentially mute and saw the reason for always carrying a whistle.

    Solo canoe seat question

Many, especially old school solo canoes have their seats mounted quite far back. All my modern solos have the seat front app 4" back from center balancing the load. Why did they mount them so far back? I have moved several solo seats mounted like this foreword to improve handling and stability...
