    Day trip solo

Thanks for posting the report and pictures. Looks like a great spot. Is there a staging area to leave the car or is it a "park on the trail before it gets too bad" type of spot? I have never paddled this area! Looks to be next on the list! I have tried to access the lake from the other side...

    Can a Mercedes-Benz E350 be a canoe car?

Enjoy the Benz, you only live once. I can tell you that it will be easy to throw the canoe on top due to the low height and will be just as easy to bang the car on low height rocks etc. I use to 4x4 a WRX in the woods with a Thule rack on top. I am now driving a Xterra Pro4x. Get what you like...

    what is Swift cooking up?

Thanks so much for posting the pictures! That's going to be a great solo boat! I am surprised by the weight of the CF portage yoke. Looks to be a much better design than the old wood one I have! I hope this season will bring you some great trips in the new boat. Congrats

    what is Swift cooking up?

Thanks, the dry bag is a MEC 70Lt with the hip belt etc. https://www.mec.ca/en/product/5030-380/Slogg-Deluxe-70-Dry-Pack I did not have an option for the interior layup at the time of purchase, all those options came a year later :( I am very happy with the canoe and just need to find some new...

    what is Swift cooking up?

I was told my TeXtreme Carbon fiber Keewaydin 15 Packboat would weigh in at 28lbs with the full CF package. The true weight was 27lbs so they do stay cautious with the weights quoted. Congrats on the new canoe!

    Textreme

I have a 15' Swift with this. 20% lighter and 20% stronger than the older CF is what I heard. I really like the light weight part of that and I have yet to put a hole in mine from any of my rock bashing. It works! I am a huge fan of the light and strong part.

    Material choices

Very little natural fibers in my kit. Mostly quality quick dry clothing and soft shell stuff and carbon fiber for the canoe and paddles and dry bags and pelican style cases for gear. Learned a long time ago that good gear can save you if times get tough. (former ice climber)

    WCPP threatened with motorized access

Seems very biased to dismiss Solar Energy as a "Green" practice. That require a substantial investment to install. Why are you so eager to dismiss it?

    Swift's 2016 Product Launch

I can say from experience that the full carbon fiber package is worth every penny! I so want a detachable yoke for mine in CF!!!!! They keep making improvements with the final products and materials used, nice to see! Looks like a new attachment clamp for the detachable yoke too?

2015 Sept Road Trip West including Glaciers

That would be an awesome hike! Enjoy. I know the trail to the top of the Valley of the Ten Peaks is a great one as I climbed Grande Sentinel back in the day!

2015 Sept Road Trip West including Glaciers

Was great to get into these areas regardless of all the driving. I did over 5200km in 6 days of driving in my vehicle, nevermind the 4 days visiting on the island. All the canoeing, sight seeing at Well's Grey PP, and the BC rock climbing was also done in these 6 days. Was ready for a holiday...

2015 Sept Road Trip West including Glaciers

Had a road trip planned for the West Coast for this Sept. Decided to bring the Keewaydin 15 pack boat with and try for a few smaller trips on the way. After a long Day of driving to Moraine Lake Alberta from Winnipeg Manitoba I woke up to a “nice” surprise! 2 inches of wet snow! It had...

    It's HOT!

With a heat advisory and all that I still went out for a paddle at ELA this weekend. Was crazy warm and no wind so was sweating in the tent at 12midnight :( . Was a hard lesson on how much fun it can be when the heat and humidity combine but I got to be schooled while out checking out the lakes...
