    Bear!!

The hunter did not engage the bear. It looks like he had decided not to prior to the bear engaging the hunter. Mind set determined the results. Will make for a good story at home!

My second trip of 2017 - Rabbit River to Cole Lake

Thanks, It was nice with a lazy rain day at camp! I was glad for the last day too even while paddling in the rain as it adds character to the trip! That sounds like an intense trip for a weekend warrior like me. 45km with multiply ports x2 might be a bit much for a weekend adventure. I was...

My second trip of 2017 - Rabbit River to Cole Lake

Too funny, not Star Trek so no point for you. What do you do if stuck in a tent storm bound for most of a day? 3 days only and it's a great area to be in with all the canoe routes! The lot was almost full on Saturday morning and only a handful of cars on Monday. I think the rain shorted most...

My second trip of 2017 - Rabbit River to Cole Lake

My second trip of 2017 - Rabbit River to Cole Lake I was feeling tired and low on energy but still wanted to get out for the May long weekend so a trip to Cole lake seemed like a great idea. The weather had other ideas but the first day was perfect. My one stop from leaving Winnipeg was at...

    Swift Keewaydin 14

If you have a chance try the Keewaydin 14 Pack boat. I have one in the 15' length and it is a great solo canoe. Very stable as you sit low and can handle the bigger weather.

    The Return Home

This is a great picture with both canoes. Having the two solo canoes looks to be a great deal! I think you scored the better weather as I had a nice Saturday and then two days of rain for Sunday and Monday at Rabbit river to Cole Lake and back.

1st Adventure of 2017- NW Ontario 27.5 km loop

I have a Keewaydin 15 Packboat in Textreme Carbon Fiber with a total weight of 27lbs. I sit very low in the canoe and this is a huge benefit for stability and my sore back with the lumbar support in the seat. Very Nice!!!

1st Adventure of 2017- NW Ontario 27.5 km loop

This little trip was a great find! There was so many different types of terrain from tight swamps to shallow creek to large lake areas, never mind all the trails and waterfalls etc. Worth the effort and would rate this as one of my best to date. I might have been just a little happy that there...

1st Adventure of 2017- NW Ontario 27.5 km loop

Thanks, the light weight gear is a plus! I had water with just as a trial run but will be traveling with just two 1lt water bottles and a filter pump next time. I have driven the haul road complete and part of the entry road to the lake up to a huge beaver dam that took out the trail. I...

1st Adventure of 2017- NW Ontario 27.5 km loop

Thanks, after a few years I am still sold on this being my best choice for a solo tripper for me. Was happy to have the light weight too! Thanks! I had my eye on your last trip report too as that looks like a great area as well. I am trying to talk a pal into 4x4ing into the lake to see if...

A Swift Keewaydin 15 Pack boat in Carbon Fiber is a great solo boat for a larger person and some gear on lakes! You said money was not an issue right! Lol Mine has been great for me and I am 6'4" 230lbs with 60lbs+ of gear Edit - only if you are looking for a solo canoe
