    PFD Zipper vs Buckles

I bought a kokatat hustle last month and have used it in both whitewater and in a recent aggressive 3 day trip. I really like it. It pulls over your head and has side buckles. No arm restrictions and very comfortable. https://kokatat.com/hustle-pfd-lvhhus

Western PA Solo Canoe Rendezvous 2024

I had the whole family at the event, including the dog, so it was an exercise in attempting to control chaos the entire time. Some young girls offered to watch our kids for an hour. It was glorious. My wife paddled a Curtis Ladybug that she fell in love with. I imagine we’ll be on the lookout...

This one is definitely figuring it out. I wish I could easily post a video. I’d show you one where all 3 of the girls (my 4 yr old, and 2 yr old twins) were paddling with my wife and I.

Recommendations for River Touring Canoe Courses?

I wanted to post an update to this thread so future members and guests can see how this panned out. My wife @Kharrick and I attended a 2-day whitewater canoeing course at NOC this past weekend. We stayed in the Dogwood Lodge on-site in a king room. It was perfect for our needs. There are...

Thanks Glenn! NOC provided us with an Esquif Prospecteur 16. We paddled the Little Tennessee River which is mostly swifts and class I but we did get to have some fun with a couple class II ledges. Instructor’s name is William Dupree. He was awesome. Would recommend.

My wife and I completed a tandem whitewater course at NOC this past weekend. It was a blast and we learned a lot. My wife found out she prefers paddling stern. I think I’ve created a monster. She loves it and promptly joined this forum when we got home! @Kharrick

I’m visiting my dad in St. Mary’s County Maryland this weekend, and we took the kids over to the Calvert Marine Museum on the Patuxent River for a rainy day activity. I happened upon a few nice gentlemen (Rich and Larry I believe) who are a part of the Patuxent River Small Craft Guild. They...

Canoe basic course on the river "Thur" (Switzerland)

I’m glad to see you felt the training was worthwhile. My wife and I are taking a Class I-II River Touring course next weekend with NOC in North Carolina. We are really looking forward to it.

I second what Glenn said about using g-flex if just trying to fill the voids. I haven’t thought about pigmenting it, but you could always experiment.

Mesmerizing/Interesting Phenomena & Experiences Without An Eclipse

I was on a solo paddling trip this past summer in the Georgian Bay. It was early morning on a foggy day and the water was like glass. The air was heavy and the only sound was my paddle hitting the water and drops of water falling from the blade on my recovery. I could only see about 50 yards...
