Not much to add except that Wenonah Spirit IIs could be had with a third seat at one point. Early 2000s I think. I always figured it was for family/kid use.

That is the same system as on the Wilderness. Never had it self adjust, but it sometimes doesn't want to adjust and it is a bit noisy sometimes.

12" boots for water (which I don't currently own-- trying some NRS boundary boots which are even taller), 10" boots for snow (Thinsulate insulated Bean boots). I've got some 8" Maine hunting shoes from LLBean, and they just seem a little low for the water. Fine 95% of the time, but one slip...

I have one of these on order for paddling below my local dam where the river gets pretty sparse. Should arrive in February.

100 ft from the road. 100 yds from my house. Two summers ago one of the boats got left in the water, tied to shore, for about two weeks. Then it drifted down below the first bend and got caught in some reeds. Then someone pulled in up on shore a quarter mile down from the put in and left it...

The local put in. It is conserved land, but during the pandemic folks just started leaving their boats there so the conservancy had to put in a rack. These rarely if ever actually get put in the water, and actually block access.

That's a bummer. Had hoped to stop in some day, but it is pretty out of the way for me.

To be fair, I was in my backyard, and would only have burned down the neighborhood, not an entire forest.

I once built an alcohol stove just to see what all the fuss was about. Lit it, didn't see any flame, stuck my hand over it like an idiot to see if it was burning, burned my hand in the process, and once I'd put the flame out never tried one again. :)

Wenonah Wilderness would fit your needs I think, though they aren't very sexy and don't get much love here. Seat can be adjusted for packboat style, kneeling or sitting; hull should be able to handle your load; and it is a tweener lake/river boat--a little slow for big lakes and a little...

I own and paddle both, but only talk about canoes here. I also paddle canoes more often.

Watched part 2 last night. A bit of a letdown unfortunately. They start up the Hudson and the next we see they're back at Old Town. Bummer.
