    Identification of canoe???

It's a Dolphin! Possibly made in Manitoba, we had a dolphin canoe company up here. Man those are ugly boats. We know of an abandoned dolphin on port #6 on the Wanipigow River up here and it is one ugly heavy boat. It has glass sponsons and if you look straight on from the bow it looks like a...

    Film Cameras

I still have my original film camera and lenses but don't use it much anymore simply due to the fact film is getting difficult to find and quality places for development are getting rarer as well. I have gone digital, starter Nikon, which is still expensive depending on your income. Despite the...

We have a pair of 17/18 footers yet to restore, a 1917 Penobscot and a 1905-1909 BN Morris. Both of which we acquired from Robin a few years ago.

Follow Will Steger on Garmin/Inreach link

Perhaps he spends one day cutting a slot in the ice, the next day he paddles down the slot, then repeat the process.

    Ice Out Predictions

The Red River currently has above normal ice thickness in most areas. Based on March measurements this year, ice thickness ranges between 30 and 42 inches (0.76 to 1.07 m). Normal ice thickness for this time of the year for southern Manitoba rivers typically range between 12 and 24 inches (0.3...

    Ice Out Predictions

Figure the usual here, second week of May. Last year it was a few days before the May 24 weekend although we had snow the Friday of that weekend, which is becoming the norm here. Cold snap coming this weekend which won't help but there is still 3 feet of snow in the back yard as well.

Link to Steel River Loop trip maps

I didn't see a single mention of you Mem, considering you have done the work to keep the portages open. When was the last time Kevin Callan opened the ports and mapped it out as you have?

    T-Shirts

T-shirt for me, short and long sleeve? I don't wear ball caps but have nothing against them besides the men who wear them constantly tend to go bald early in life.

    Painting a wood strip canoe???

I painted the exterior of my last build. It was the plan from the beginning. Although I did try to pigment the resin it wouldn't cover so I used Beauty Tone Rust Paint tinted to the colour I wanted. Easy touch up with the finish underneath close to the same. Although PB ate most of the photo's...
