    Kite build

How the boat is in the cradles is temporary, we had to disassemble and remove the strongback and make some space.

    Kite build

The Kite is free!!! The procedure went so well I slowed the timelapse down to 1/4 speed.

    Kite build

I stopped after 2 hours. Christine finished the knuckle on the other side and brushed out runs and sags. This is the first stripper we have built since my Jack's Special in 2017 so we had some remembering to do. :)

    Kite build

Resin seal coat going on. The wood is extremely dry. Manitoba cedar has beautiful colouring. Outer stems are of her own design and reasoning. Don't ask. :)

What to do with a month's worth of PTO?

Marshall is the one trip I would like to do again, but longer and a side trip up to Faubert just for the fishing. Almost never ending pickerel and plenty of Northern Pike as well. It was our only ever group trip.

How is your winter so far?

And we need snow to cut down the fire risk next Summer. Bad enough this year. We here in Warren have a couple inches at best and none in the forecast a week out.

How is your winter so far?

Normal for here would be highs of -12C and lows of -22C. It was in the plusses last week and the next 3 days the high will be -2C. Next to no snow but the folks are out on the lakes fishing. Not sure I would trust Lake Winnipeg yet but they are driving on it.

    Christmas gifts

It has been awhile since I have had the pleasure of being creative for a Christmas gift but this year we have a new canoeist in the house and I felt she needed her own paddle rather than using those of which are Christines or mine as she is much shorter than either of us. So I purchased a store...

Ocoee River whitewater paddling and rafting in the very early days (film)

The few times I went by the Ocoee in the late 80's it was dry. It was seen going from I-75 across to Murphy NC during a trip to the Great Smoky Mountain Trek, 4 wheeling in the Smokies. The only rafting I have done was on the Ottawa in the mid 80's.

The only 3 knots you need for canoe camping

Definitely sounds like user error in that instance. I'm sure someone could overtighten a truckers hitch system as well as I use that for the bow lashing ropes and it is fairly easy to really pull those overly tight. I also have blocks that gunwales rest against so if I were to overtighten the...

The only 3 knots you need for canoe camping

Doubt it, likely just personal preference. Different ropes for different folks you know. :)

    It looks like this.

The only 3 knots you need for canoe camping

That works but I still prefer ratchet straps. I use 2 x 4's bolted to the factory roof rack rails with carpet and eyebolt attacment points. Never have had an issue in 14 years doing this. To each their own. Karin

The only 3 knots you need for canoe camping

I use ratchet straps for tying down either my stripper or kevlar canoes on my vehicle. Never had an issue. Truckers hitch for the ropes for the bow.

    Moose — Stories, Photos, Videos

A number of years ago in a land far far away from here... I have found they spook easy, run to the forest edge then stop and turn to see if they are being followed.

    Snow, where you are?

Mostly all of our snow is gone and forecasted temps above freezing for a week more, 7C on Wednesday. Keep it coming.
