    LOTN trip! Weeeeeee!

Sounds “cool.” When and where is the winter trip? Oh, Nevermind I’ll read the thread…duh.

    Tandem Yoke Pads

No, sorry. Sent both sets out some time ago.

    Phoenix Full of Herd Dog

Yeah he won’t fit between my legs. Even his sister who is 10 lbs lighter would be cramped. Maybe a chihuahua.

    Multi Tools

It’s one of those things that is needed in dire situations, like repair of gear or the canoe.

    Paddling with carpal tunnel syndrome

Thanks folks. The exercises are helping. I dug up my bicycle gloves and added them to my kit. I’m looking for a good hand surgeon but will only go that route if it won’t interfere with snowshoeing or padding. Does anyone feel a certain paddle blade shape is better? I looked at some...

    Multi Tools

What brand and model multi tool do you find handiest for canoe repair on a trip where weight is a big consideration? I had a leather man lightweight until it went for a swim. I replaced it with one that’s too heavy, not as useful.

    Your emergency canoe repair kit?

How much does a proper repair kit weigh? I’m shaving the handle on my toothbrush when portaging is a factor. If I was tripping on a northern river I’d bring wire and epoxy. Everywhere else, it’s duct tape, a letherman, a 3/8” ratchet wrench. I do have a couple SS bolts and nuts in there too.

    Paddling with carpal tunnel syndrome

I also figure it was keyboards that did me the dirty. I do have those gloves. Never thought of using them to paddle. Since I can’t ride my bikes anymore, it can’t hurt to use them. I’ve had flare ups paddling and driving. Hands cramp and go numb. I tied my left hand on the paddle with a...

    Paddling with carpal tunnel syndrome

Can I ask what your full recovery time was? Back to paddling long stretches?

    Paddling with carpal tunnel syndrome

How long were you out of the paddling game after surgery?

    Paddling with carpal tunnel syndrome

Anyone paddling with carpel tunnel syndrome? With two recent shoulder surgeries, I had testing that said I have it in both hands. I’ve been getting cramps in my hands while paddling, once it was pretty bad on an 8 mile day trip. I’m just wondering if there’s a significant risk in tripping due...

Detachable Yoke for Swift Carbon Gunnels

bcelect, Worked out well. I used the same yoke as you, but with an eyebolt. I tried several thumbscrews, which were not threaded enough, wouldn’t go all the way. Post a photo of your yoke when you can. I’m always ready to improve mine.

    Recycled Watercraft

We may have discussed this before, but it merits revisiting. Do any kayak or canoe builders use recycled plastic? Seems like there would be a market for a good product made with household plastics. We gotta do better than recycling 3%, and this seems to be an opportunity with a receptive market.

Satellite Communicator (Garmin In Reach Mini II) questions.

My PLB is an ACR. I have no idea if it works. It’s 10 years old. I had the battery replaced once.

Satellite Communicator (Garmin In Reach Mini II) questions.

I keep my PLB fastened to my PFD. That way, if I lose contact with my packs, or am injured and can’t move, I still have my failsafe at my disposal. I’m considering a new device, one that sends messages. Waterproofing is a key feature I’d want, or I’d carry both the WP PLB on my person and...

    Tie down with hatch

Tying a canoe to a vehicle roof is an uncertain prospect. With an SUV, tying an end rope on the back makes hatch entry difficult. Not so bad if you load everything and don’t need to get in the back until the boat comes off, although I’m not sure that ever happens. Usually, there are many...

Solo Canoe Recommendations Needed for Rocky and Low Water Rivers

Maybe 15’ would be a good length to get agility and dog room without excessive weight? Just eyeballed the river today and confirmed that my Blacklite boat shall never touch its water.

    Phoenix Full of Herd Dog

Yep, he has a yoga mat. It helps a lot, but he’s still a 12 volt doggie. It’s also harder to sit in one position on an angled seat. There’s no real flat spot in the forward space.

Solo Canoe Recommendations Needed for Rocky and Low Water Rivers

I’m thinking I need a beater. I’m not sure what canoes to consider, but here are some features I’m hoping to find: - Under 50 lbs. - Royalex or some rock resistant material - forward floor space (wider bottom) for pup, paddler comfort. Not tandem wide, just not a round, narrow floor. -...
