Since I live in New York, I was disappointed that the link did not include Paul Smith's College (campus on a large lake in the Adirondacks) or SUNY ESF in Syracuse (not far from the ADK's). ESF has off campus sites actually in the ADK's.

All the swims I have taken were unexpected! Worst was mid-May in Michigan... snowing so hard you could barely see past the bow of the canoe. I set the world record for changing clothes.

Where are you paddling? I've lived most of my life within 2 hrs of NE/Erie and due to a brain freeze, the only lake I can think of is Findlay (and Erie)
