Snapper, No guidebook I know of. I've paddled it all summer and fall. Water depth is never a problem. You just have to get out more often for dams. It's close to home so is one of my favorite day trips. Good moose country too. I'm sure you could zip up there and do a day trip pretty easily...

YC, Yup a day trip although there are some nice sites to be found. It's located off of Rt. 8, west of Bakers Mills. There is actually a fun through paddle that ends where we started. It starts with a 2 mile carry to a couple of ponds that then leads to the flow. That's a good full day.
