    Help identifying Wenonah Adirondack

If it doesn't have floatation chambers it is Royalex. If it has chambers and gelcoat it is most likely Tuff-weave. Any pictures?

    Help identifying Wenonah Adirondack

You may try Wenonah. They used to be helpful witn older models. I had a Fisherman 16; the predecessor to the Adirondack. They are essentially the same hull. I liked mine. Pretty efficient for 16 feet. Not much, if any rocker. It is asymmetrical and mine had tractor seats so it was really not...

Never mind, I think Paddling.com has Sportspals labeled as Pelicans!

I had no idea Pelican was making Sportspal knock-offs.

Replacement for Old Town Discovery 169

Wenonah uses what they call Tuff-weave. It is a fiberglass and polyester layup. It makes for a stiff hull that can take some abuse. It is not going to be as forgiving as Royalex or T-Formex, but will arguably paddle better. I had a Wenonah in Tuff-weave and liked it a lot. The port stern...

    My first wanigan experience

All this wanigan talk has got me thinking I should build one. I have been using a Sterilite footlocker for years to hold camping gear for car/canoe camping. Kind of a plastic wanigan I guess. Things that can't get wet go in dry bags. Things that can tolerate water go in the footlocker...

Replacement for Old Town Discovery 169

It looks like there may be something going on on the port stern of the Wenonah. It may be just the lighting. Another factor besides length and material is the seats. The Wenonah has tractor seats. People seam to either love them or hate them. I liked the ones I had, but my son did not.

Replacement for Old Town Discovery 169

Here is a Spirit II in Tuff-weave. 58ish pounds. Maybe a little longer than you are looking for, but a very versatile canoe. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/666320635377692/?ref=search&referral_code=null&referral_story_type=post

Pickup Truck and Fifth Wheel - Front Receiver Rack

You are not unduly harsh, just concerned. I have hauled canoes this way for a lot of miles. The last trip in June was 540ish miles round trip. 70 mph interstate, mountain passes, and twisty mountain roads with 0 problems. Heck it rained hard on the 6+ hour return trip. It is not the best way...

Pickup Truck and Fifth Wheel - Front Receiver Rack

I agree, a front reciever and rack system on your roof are the best way to haul your canoe. If you go with just a front goalpost you may run into problems if you slid it too far forward. The ends of most canoes turn up and it may not sit right on your roof Without a rack. The straps through...

Pickup Truck and Fifth Wheel - Front Receiver Rack

It does effect visibility, but I don't think anymore than carrying it on top of any vehicle. I notice it most on curvy mountain roads. I sometimes have to move around to see the road.

Pickup Truck and Fifth Wheel - Front Receiver Rack

I carry my canoes on the roof. No racks, just pool noodles and straps through the door openings. A rack out front would be nice though. The tan one is 16' and the red one is 17'.

I had the brand of the PFD wrong. It is a Outward Hound not Outbound Hound.

    Outbound Hound

Thank you for your response. The PFD is the size recommended for the girth of the dog. I don't think the next smaller size from this company. would fit. She is a kind of a Chiweenie mix; long body, short legs and fairly thick through the chest. I will float her in the pool before we use it...

    Outbound Hound

We purchased an Outbound Hound PFD for our dog. Our little dog was able to escape the PFD. She was in front of my wife and emerged from under the bow seat fully naked. We did not see how she managed to remove it. I have since tried it at home and it seems secure. I did tighten the straps a...
