    Classic sheath knife ideas

What I like about the carbon steel and leather sheet is you can teach them how to care for there stuff, with the plastic stuff they don’t have a chance to learn “anything”... but I agree that the mora are great knife for the price!!

Otter tail paddle, when do you like to use yours?

I made a few and I find them a bit inefficient compare to the style I use now that have a lower blade profile(a bit like a teardrop) I also paddle mostly river or a mix of river lakes and I like ha I g more meat at the tip of the blade!!

    What Paddle Otter I Buy?

The first 4 paddles are of my favourite design, the last one is the first paddle I made and it is supposed to be of the voyager style but it as noting to do with what the voyageur were using lol and of a really bad design with its “square” shoulders and “square” tip!!

    What Paddle Otter I Buy?

I’m a big fan of making my own, I did make some for others too! kettlewell/Fishell paddles are really nice! Lots of trad paddles now a day have rather thick edges and to me it is really bad craftsmanship and design! Find something that is thin edge with a little bit thicker tip! Robin have a few...

    Packing Style

This is the best thing I read so far and resonate with the way we travel!! I went for a sheep hunt this year and man that is not the kind of traveling I enjoy the most, sitting on the ground under a trap set up with hacking poles, cooking on a small camps stove, no wood to cook on or warm up...

    Packing Style

Up here every trip is a remote trip! And you need to be somewhat prepared for snow all year around(I saw snow on the ground in every month of the year) so maybe a bit different! As for light gear, I think sleeping bag is an area one can’t go wrong, mine are all somewhat light but I want to...

Vintage 1974 North Face Sleeping Bag

If the bag was stored properly(loose and not stuffed tight) it should be still good!! Open it, lay it on the floor and see how much loft it has!! If you know the temp rating then you can find out if it lost its loft or not

    Packing Style

On canoe trips we definitely pack heavier than most, with wanigan, fire box, table and chairs, large tarps, sometimes canvas tent and even wood stoves!! But I can tell you I don’t suffer anymore!! When back packing that is a lot different!! my problem with light weight gear is usually...

    Big Y stern....

Good day all, I am thinking of building(maybe) the “ultimate” river and lakes hunting canoe! And I need plans..... I want something at least 20’ and max 22’, it would have to be deep, minimum 18” center depth and something like 24” bow depth with a beam of 40+” and at least 38” at 4” waterline...
