    Painter Bungee Cordloc tensioners

The ones that I have seen fail by the spring snapping so come loose, though it sounds like as long as you stick with a "name brand" the quality is god enough to last. The link to the RSBTR is https://ripstopbytheroll.com/collections/plastic-cordlocks/products/double-squeeze-stopper though have...

    Painter Bungee Cordloc tensioners

Very good. One warning, the springs in the cord locks will rust and fail so one more thing to keep an eye on. You may want to look at something like this. A single version (from Ripstopbytheroll) is also available

    Dogs in Tents?

If you use an extended Fronkey style bug net he could lay under the hammock, though from my experience dogs are not great with netting, they have trouble finding the door so tend to make their own! I wonder if one of those clip-on bug repellant devices would work?

    Dogs in Tents?

Holly gets her own bed though she rarely uses it. I sewed some fleece to a layer of waterproof nylon just to keep her off the damp ground though she has a thicker bed for winter. I have always ben surprised that no one sells a self inflating Thermarest style mat for dogs. We have a 3 person...

    Choosing and sizing Snowshoes

If you have not tried the Monoline traditionals from Snowshoe Sales and repairs in Sudbury then you have missed out. They weave the shoes with 400lb monofilament. They are lighter and the weave does not stretch if it gets wet. Plus any ice comes off much more easily. I have a two pairs including...

New legislation affects canvas hot tent users.

That's far enough away from the pipe that even standard silcone would be enough to stop it fraying. Apply some silicone to the edges to stop fraying, sew a zig zag by hand then some more silicone. It's a remote possibility but I would move that rolled cover. If the ties come undone the fabric...

Definitely one of the benefits of having the stove jack in the door, much less fabric to deal with.

New legislation affects canvas hot tent users.

Sorry, meant to reply but went camping! The high temp silicone fabric is easy to sew on a home machine, use a 90/14 needle or bigger, but like you say the big problem is getting the fabric under the foot and then manoeuvering it around. Some smaller machines don't have enough space under the...

High-Vis Yellow Enamel Paint Pen on Dark Dry Bags

Love those pens but most of mine have dried up long before I get my monies worth. 3M reflective tape? Try a cattle ear tag zip tied to the buckle to label each one.

Thanks That's a real "Good News/Bad News" story! I do install stove jacks for folk but it only really makes sense if you are local to me. I have the silicone high temp fabric for sale on my website for anyone wanting to DIY.

New legislation affects canvas hot tent users.

Thanks Your post made me look online and I found out they updating the Canadian standard right now but it doesn't say anything about repairs. t may be that they are unwilling to work on anything when they don't know if the fabric has been treated. You could always get them to sew velcro around...

New legislation affects canvas hot tent users.

So what is the legislation? The majority of of this stuff is covered by state laws so it would be useful to know as it may well not apply outside your home state and of course doesn't apply to those of us in Canada or elsewhere on the planet.

It's been a while. Any updates to your ditch bag?

Difficult to know where to stop though. One of the instructors on a WWSR course I attended described an incident where a branch snagged up through a shoulder strap on his PFD. Note that Charlie said "loose fitting". This is almost more common for beginners who dont snug up the straps properly...

    bill mason stove

If you are wanting to elevate your twig stove I would suggest using some some form of insulating mat, maybe a piece of welding blanket or carbon felt, topped by a sheet of aluminum flashing on top of a barrel or wanigan box. As long as you use a stove with a floor raised off the ground (like...

    Lightweight Camp Shoes

Moccasins Well I wouldn't go standing in puddles with them but as long as you treat the leather with something I haven't had a problem on mine with a rubber sole. Steger's sell a high top mocassin. You could also try Lana at Mucky Mocs on Etsy. She made me some canvas & leather mukluks...
