    WTB - Swift Raven

Great canoe. Despite its ample rocker the canoe holds its line very well if paddled with good technique. I got mine used about 6 years ago and after a clean up it looks like this.

Wonderful palette of colors you found yourself in. Thanks for sharing

    Dreaded Tennis Elbow, Mark II

Quite a few years ago I developed tennis elbow during my canoeing WW years. I got some pain relief from using a Velcro wrap around my forearm, just below the elbow. It took quite some time for the tennis elbow to resolve itself by easing back on the aggressive paddling and focusing on my...

Old Town Camper Royalex 16' for sale $800 1988

Given we both realized we should sell canoes we weren’t using, I couldn’t in good conscience try to sell my OT camper on this site while you were doing the same. Using another method to advertise its availability I sold my OT Camper yesterday. Best wishes on yours finding its next owner.

    Lumbar Support Backrest

I use a back band and position the band where I want it to reside. If I lean forward the back band will fall somewhat, but it’s an easy matter to pull it back up into position.

Old Town Camper Royalex 16' for sale $800 1988

Same here, no enthusiasm for canoes in my daughter and son in law. Thinking I might as well sell what I’m not using as they have little interest in storing them despite plentiful yard space.

Dagger Reflection 15 seat options? And paint thoughts?

I’ve found plastic plugs like that at my local hardware store and used them to fill abandoned holes in the gunwale. My store has them in multiple sizes in the loose hardware section where there are pull out cardboard bins of specialty fasteners. The fasteners are commonly used in the...

    Solo open water mods

I use it to secure the bow painter so it is within reach as I leave the canoe. I’ve since relocated the cam cleat below the thwart so it is below the gunnel.

The Oldest Rivers in the World

I’ve paddled several sections the South Fork of the New River near West Jefferson, NC. Nice class 1 and 2 rapids.

    Canoe seats

I’ve had good experiences with Ed’s Canoe in Vermont. Being a bigger guy at 235, I broke a wood seat and was seeking a replacement seat that would hold up to WW use. Called them and they offered me a heavier frame than they usually build. I’ve been very happy with that seat...

    Maine canoe community is awesome

Get a set of golf club labels. Waterproof, durable, they usually come 20 to a sheet. Great for your paddles.

Foot Brace Location/ Proper Leg Extension

Using a backband maximizes the power you can get from the footbar. Your whole body can become involved in the stroke. It is easier to install than the foot bar. Here’s a picture of mine. Northstar installed the carbon footbar on my Polaris. The carbon supports are 13 inches long, with 9...

Wenonah Wilderness or Northstar Northwind Solo

Being a tandem, the Polaris is wider than a dedicated solo, but it is narrow for a tandem. I’m 6’1, 230 and like to have room to move about in the cockpit so this works well for me. I own a UL Wenonah Wilderness and a Blacklite Polaris set up as a solo, with foot bar and back band. My...

    Favorite camp chair

Quite a few years ago, I settled on using the Camp Time Roll a Chair. One piece, no assembly needed, I find it compact, light, and its high points for me are it has a back and is remarkably easy to stand from(19 inch version). I added some tennis balls to the feet to better stabilize me in...

Wenonah Wilderness or Northstar Northwind Solo

Suggest you look at the Polaris, set up as solo. It is about the same length as your Prism and has enough rocker to be responsive the turning strokes. The Prism is a more hard tracking canoe than the Polaris.
