Making a canoe with a pocket knife, string and cheap tarp

Where there's a will, there's a way! Not sure many folks would spend the time doing that but it's certainly interesting to see the canoe take shape and then hit the water. My guess is that canoe would be a big hit with the bushcrafting crowd.

Four Moose-hide canoe built at the Great Lakes Traditional Arts Gathering on Drummond Island in Michigans' Upper Peninsula. Gunwales, ribs. stems and planking are white birch saplings.
Give that guy his Pioneering Merit badge.
The half-split-and-brace technique on the larger ribs was something I'd never seen before. I'd guess hazel?
