Making a canoe with a pocket knife, string and cheap tarp

Where there's a will, there's a way! Not sure many folks would spend the time doing that but it's certainly interesting to see the canoe take shape and then hit the water. My guess is that canoe would be a big hit with the bushcrafting crowd.

The half-split-and-brace technique on the larger ribs was something I'd never seen before. I'd guess hazel?
 
Old ways are the best ways.
I used to always bring an axe in case I had to make a paddle on the spot.
