Always enjoy watching one of Ray Mear's videos. There is much to learn and he's rather matter-of-fact about it all. I love his style and the fact that he's pushing knowledge and not products. Thanks for posting this video. Time to watch it again!

Surprised I got sucked into watching almost all of this 240p video, but it ended up being quite interesting and informative. Ray Mears was joined by well-known British canoeist Ray Goodwin. Thanks for posting it.

Old ways are the best ways. Practice the old skills because you may need them.
I made lasagna in a Dutch Oven on a fire last night in the back yard campsite. Practice your fire building skills. The wood wet from recent storms. Very satisfying to build a good warming and cooking fire.
When was the last time you sat by a campfire? Two years ago? You may need to practice your skills in case a crew member takes a swim in cold water. A fire can save a life.
