• Happy Birthday, Robert Wadlow (1918-40)! 8️⃣–1️⃣1️⃣

1500→16→17→18→19→20→21→22→23→3000 Members

Another 100 registrations in the past 11 weeks = 2,300 members.

About 36 rejections during this period, plus a couple of bans for commercial spam in public posts or reported private conversations.

The site hit 3000 members yesterday.

It took 11 years to attract the first 1500 members and 2.75 years for the next 1500. The rapid rise in membership is clearly associated with our migration from the maddeningly buggy vBulletin software platform to Xenforo in August 2021, when we had about 1250 members.

The accelerated growth in membership numbers has not been accompanied by a comparable growth rate in thread starts or posts. The vast majority of new members never post, though they may read. Hence, our growth in thread starts and posts since August 2021, while significant, has been at more modest pace.

But always interesting, civilized, informative and rewarding. The members who start threads and post frequently provide all the food that everyone enjoys. Thank you for keeping the kitchen open and expanding.

Thanks to Glenn, and all the administrators who have kept this place going over the years. It is one of a kind and a great community.

I started paddling around 2005. At that time P-net had a good contingent of open boaters. I remember posting on Boatertalk (thick skin required), CBoats and Northeast Paddler Message Board. These days P-com is for beginners or sea kayakers. I still check in there on occasion, and if I see a lost soul open boater I usually reply and send them an IM referring them here. I still go to CBoats to look at the boat histories. Facebook is nice for connecting on trips or for seeing what others are up to, but you don't get the in-depth discussion on boats, gear, technique or trip reports that you do here.

Been a couple of years now since I became a regular here - its been great. It is the best canoe forum around. Thanks for keeping it going Glenn.

After two years of membership here in the forum, I can only report really good things.
There is such a wide range of information that it would be enough just to read and marvel for months.
All the super documented reports about canoe trips, the detailed illustrated and described self-built boats, paddles and other equipment.
Simply marvelous!

And everyone here is always happy to have a little fun on the side. ;)

I feel very comfortable and welcome here.
Many thanks for that.

Congratulations to Glenn, Alan and all the previous folks who have kept this operation going. It's the one forum I check every day I'm near a computer and that's all because of the great people who contribute here. While I try to do my part when I can, I know I've got little to offer in many areas but truly appreciate being able to learn from all of you. I only hope I can add a bit to the conversation from time to time that is worthy of your time to read.

That's all for now. Take care and until next time....be well.

Welcome to the new visitors. I’ve gained more good, useful information here than anywhere since the inception of the WWW. If you’re new to the activity of canoe tripping, best place to learn your craft and crafts.

It depresses me a little to think there are that many trippers nowadays. Hopefully, the LNT ethic can be instilled into many more here. The world ain’t getting any bigger.

Great Job Guys !
Standing the test of Time !
Many sites have gone by the way side.
Glad Canoetripping.net is going soo good !

Jim
