Show us pictures of your canoe vehicle with boat(s)

Tomo, I looked at that hull for a while before I saw your last sentence and kept saying that the stern looks like my SRT. You can now join the privileged white SRT owners cult. Here are mine, Paul Conklin's (Conk) and the late Harold Deal's (designer of the SRT) at the Batsto River takeout in the New Jersey Pine Barrens.

NorthStar NW17 & ‘23 Subaru Forester w/ the Blue camper van in the background. Hoping to find a good user and strong roof or ladder rack so I can bring the canoe with the van

Did that year GM still use the "gutter" roof to body connection? If so, buy the tallest Yakima gutter mounts (Yakima 1A plus 3 1/2" spacer) and you will be GTG, even with prospector-type shear line. You can buy the Yakima bars as well (I bought the 72"), but it turns out you can use 3/4" black iron pipe and save a bundle. I bought my towers on ebay for about $100.

If they had done away with the gutter by then, just find the mount that fits your track pattern. Most of the eBay stuff is from sellers that buy pallets of returns and part it out. Mine were NIB with a note from the original vendor that said the customer exchanged them for a track mount.

Here is a link to my gutter brackets, a link to the spacers, and a picture of my setup.

I’ve looked at these before, and the Thule version, which had a higher weight capacity. I originally wanted to put a small deck up there but I’m going against that now. I’ll search around eBay, thank you for the recommendation.

What year van and did you do anything to the inside? Growing up, we took a lot of road trips in Fords Econline, it was always the best!

'94 G20. Nothing on the inside yet other than cleaning it up. Transmission went out, so waiting on warmer weather to rebuild it.

4L60E? Lots of updates to make that puppy stronger. If "The Beast" drive shell is still available, it's a great idea and there should be single-sided clutches for the forwards. Those and Gil Younger's shift kit are a great start. (it was, at one time, my 4th or 5th favorite overhaul despite what a PIA the input drum was)

Yup, the older one-piece case. The Beast sun shell is still available and a planned upgrade. I'm a little worried about what I might find in there, but we shall see. She only has forward 1 right now.

Finally found and scanned a picture my father took showing the family with our new 1968 OTCA-17 atop our 1955 Rambler station wagon. I'm on the left with my mother and two brothers.

OTCA and Rambler 1968 copy.jpg

Eight years after that picture was taken my parents gave me the Rambler which was the first car I owned. Another 10 years after that they gave me the OTCA which is the first canoe I owned.
