Where’s Yellowcanoe?

I’ve been wondering what happened to this guy,

New Member Intro - Emmanuel Katto Uganda

Imagine his answer to walking your dog at night or defending your food barrel threads…

My brother was a guide on the Zambezi river out of Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. Imagine trying to goad tourists in a raft to paddle for their lives when a hippo didn't appreciate their presence. They did occasional overnight trips where keeping crocs at bay was an issue.

no more knowledge.
With all due respect, I'll call BS on that one. Like Michael (@PaddlingPitt) and others, the places that you've been are varied enough that your input is always helpful. (people still read guidebooks that are decades old, right?)

Good that you're doing OK, even if you aren't getting out as much as you'd like.

Last seen the day he posted the intro... hopefully he's paddling an extended trip and taking lots of pictures.

As for the food barrel... no bears there. That's good, right?

Kim, your knowledge of canoes, paddling techniques, canoe instruction, hull differences, canoe history, canoe gear, canoe places, canoe destinations, canoe tripping, wilderness solo tripping, and notable canoe people all over the continent is unmatched by anyone I know. Your knowledge of all those things will continue to be informative and influential far into the future, as long as the paddling sites on which you've made uncountable posts remain active.

Please continue.

Indeed. And there have been times, even recently, that I have thought, "what did Yellowcanoe have to say about this?"....and went looking.

I wish you were feeling better, Kim. You have been missed.

no more knowledge. All of my joints are artihritic or bionic. I paddle sometimes infrequently. My balance is shot at my age and need help. Don't get old. No idea of new canoes as my last purchase was in 2010!
I understand, but we still love hearing from you. My age is showing too. I’m contemplating hanging up my tripping hat and focusing on day trips. But I still hope. Hearing from you makes me miss it less, and I always like to learn from sage paddlers. Someday, I hope to paddle in Maine. You’re my best resource. Please stop by on occasion and help all these wonderful new members.

I can relate. My only new canoe purchase was in 1981. It was based on a model introduced in 1921. I don't pay much attention to most canoes that are less than 100 years old. I'm paddling a lot less now too. Hang in there,

Benson

There are a number of people on this site whose knowledge can be taken as gospel, and YC is certainly in that group. Her most recent contribution regarding my Newfoundland trip is resting it it's trip folder just waiting to begin. Contributions for the ages.
