US dugout canoes as old as the Pyramids

If my memory serves me correctly, an archeology group from Franklin Pierce College in NH was part of a group that uncovered a dugout canoe that was estimated to be about 1500 years old. My guess is there are many more canoes like this that are still submerged in waters around the country.

That's all for now. Take care and until next time....be well.

It’s amazing how old some of these dugouts are. When I was in school, we learned about the pyramids, but never about American pre-history.

I rode in a dugout canoe in Costa Rica and saw more on the shore filled with mountains of bananas. A direct connection to ancient peoples.

There was a dugout canoe found on a natural pond (Mud Pond) about 1 mile behind my house in Pa. It was estimated to be 400 years old and is now in a museum in the state capital in Harrisburg. Supposedly there were almost 20 of them found in Pa, mostly in the Poconos. Surprisingly none along the Susquehanna.

There is no road access to the pond and I have thought of portaging a boat to it but have yet to put that plan in action.
